It's bad of me to say this but I hope the Lakers don't make the playoffs. I've never rooted for the Lakers nor any of their players. I don't know why but my husband and I just never liked them.
I'm a Lakers fan and I don't even want them to make the playoffs. I can't stand Dwight Howard and hope that missing the playoffs gets him off the team. In fact if Houston trades Asik and Howard straight up I would be ecstatic. If you thought Harden-ball was bad wait till you see Howard ball, basically it's just ugly hook shots and bricking free throws. Even if the Lakers get into the playoffs they're just going to get embarrassed by the Spurs. They can barely beat teams like the Kings, Bucks, Suns right now.
I voted Dallas; I hate Dallas, but I wish I could have voted for the Lakers too. I hate the Lakers. Come to think of it, I hate the Jazz as well. These are my three most hated teams in the entire league.
Dallas traded their pick with some crazy stipulations. Something like if they make the lottery, the pick goes to the team with its rights (OKC?). And the longer they stay in the playoffs, the less restrictions on pick protections get chipped away. Definitely want them to make it in this year to increase the risk on the draft pick....
Lakers get 40% of the airtime every night. Tired of it. I remember one game this season they played the Mavs and at halftime Magic, Bill Simmons, Jalen Rose, and maybe Wilbon talked about the Lakers the entire halftime and never even mentioned the Mavs.
Not exactly. OKC has the pick from us as a result of the Harden trade. We got it from the Lakers as part of the Jordan Hill trade (and I don't know how the Lakers got it in the first place). Dallas' pick is top-20 protected -- they're keeping their pick if they're in the playoffs or not this year. It's top 20 protected through 2017, but if they're not one of the top 10 teams in the league between now and then (and thus picking 21 or later), it's unprotected in 2018. There's a chance that things go really bad for them right around then (that's how Detroit got the #2 overall, after trading an aging Otis Thorpe to the then Vancouver Grizzlies, which they promptly wasted on Darko), but hard to bet on it. If it does happen, it will be the Rockets' regret too, since we passed that pick on to the Thunder. http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed has a pretty good breakdown of pick obligations and their protections.
I don't want the Lakers in the lottery, because I don't want them to "miraculously" get the top pick.
I wish all three could miss the playoffs, but I consider the mavs to be the least of the three evils. the team I want to miss the playoffs the most is the jazz.
Mavs. Lakers aren't that bad, and this Jazz team is alot different compared to the stockton/ malone, deron/ boozer years.
I hope LA misses it. 1) I want to see the biggest flop in league history. 2) They were so hyped in the preseason. 3) It will increase Howard's chances of leaving. I also wanna see Utah miss it and the Mavs make it. I wanna see Duncan/Dirk go at it one more time and it will be cool to have all 3 TX teams in the playoffs again. Also, I fully believe Dallas would be in the postseason if Dirk weren't hurt. Kobe/Howard have been together most of the season.
