It is not about being better this year, it is about being good enough to win a title. Regardless of what we fans want, this year is about development, not about championships.... DD
You've lost it bro. We're on our way to the playoffs. TRob is a helluva prospect. Why can't you get over it? Why u gotta keep hating? I really don't get it.
Why have you chosen to close the door on the possibility of Robinson getting better? Is he really THAT bad that he doesnt have any chance of improvement in your eyes? Has he not shown ANY flashes to warrant being labeled a high upside rookie? I just dont get why you have chosen to draw such a resounding line in the sand that this rookie is so bad that he isnt even worth a second round pick.
I am not saying he does, he is just one more guy to try as we search for a guy that has star potential. PPat didn't have it, now we get to look at Dmo, GSmith, Trob, and TJones to see if they have it, if not, it will be next up. DD
I will be happy about making the playoffs when it actually happens. The team was in exactly the same position last yr- 7 games above .500 with 9 games to go- last season, so forgive me for being cautious and not celebrating too early. But I do hope they finally make it and I get to be happy about it. TRob has not shown enough to me to justify "helluva prospect" status. Guy seems fairly ordinary. Another Stromile Swift, Tyrus Thomas or Marcus Morris.
Actually, there are people who said Patterson was a worthless player. They said that we got Robinson for a bag of chips. Some of them are back-paddling. CH is trolling a bit by exaggerating things. But it still think a lot of people around here are underrating Patterson and overrating Robinson's potential. Robinson may become better than Patterson. But I don't see him as a game changer that a championship team needs as the second wheel. I hope I am wrong.
- Robinson was always about next season - PPat and Mook are and continue to be insignificant - DMo continues to be better than PPat - Greg Smith had the strength to effectively play against Griffin and Jordan while none of Mook, PPat, DMo or Robinson do. - Greg my be the best option at the 4 through the remainder of the season due to his rebounding and defense. That would be no different with PPat on the team. PPat is allergic to rebounds and for all of his "always being in the right place" was always ineffective on defense. Nothing has changed.
Nah you said the trade would ruin the Rockets playoff hopes, that's been your main beef with the trade since it started that this move ruined team chemistry in the middle of a heated playoff race. In fact you said it would have been fine to trade Patterson after the season, but not during the Rockets playoff race because now we would struggle to make it without Patterson. Aslo Trob has played better here and has already contributed he's just inconsistent which everyone should have expected.
fair enough, but I've been consistent in my opinion and I was under the impression that the contingent of us who have been around for awhile and don't subscribe to the traditional ebbs and flows of the garm ignored the chatter of the uneducated. worst part - he won't even reply to my posts because he knows he can't debate a consistent well stated position. Something he used to be able to do even with his fallic driven posts. He's now lowering the standards of the board by avoiding discussions and continuing flame wars.
I did not say it would definitely prevent the team to make the playoffs. I said it would pose a risk to HOU's playoff pursuit, which risk is not worth taking when all you get is a yet another lotto bust. Robinson's ORtg with HOU = 91. With SAC it was 90. He has not played better. And it's not a matter of him being "inconsistent" and his level of play going up and down, it's a matter of his medium game being really bad.
When it all comes down to it...this is really the only logical plan I can see us choosing, but I don't see the Kings biting. Patterson is a talent you don't normally find... You have to look at the Kings as a future powerhouse now that they've secured Patrick Patterson.
Quite possibly the most impatient member of Clutchfans... You act as if Robinson should already be on Patterson's level. Give him more than half a season like a rational observer. Sure, he hasn't played great, but he flashes some promise, even if it's only a little at a time. I don't know how long he'll be around here due to Morey's potential dealings, but if he's not up to stuff in 1-2 years, then sure, it's time to give up. But have some faith and give him a chance...
Well if the Rockets make the playoffs then you were wrong right? Because the risk proved to not be as bad as you thought, the Rockets made the playoff, and get a guy with a lot of potential all at the same time. I'm not even going to debate on whether you think Trob has potential or not, because Morey thought so and at this point that is what matters. As for his ORtg, you keep bringing this stat up as if it is the end all and be all of a players performance. This is a stat btw that has... Tyson Chandler #1 in the league as it's leader oh and Kousta Koufas #4, Calderon #4, Spillter #7 oh and for giggles Kiki Vandewegh is number 5 all time in Ortg.
I mean...I probably would be tempted to rank Tyson Chandler as best offensive player in the league, so it seems pretty legit to me...
