Been awhile since we had one of these; what are your favorite bands? Include artists that are bands only and not considered as solo artists.... 1 - Genesis 2 - Pink Floyd 3 - Radiohead 4 - Sigur Ros 5 - Animal Collective 6 - Wilco 7 - The Byrds 8 - The Band 9 - Cream 10 - The Police

I'm going to skip all the ones you guys have mentioned so far since it would just fill up most of my favorite bands. Muse Porcupine Tree Red Hot Chili Peppers Oasis Foo Fighters My Chemical Romance Pendulum Queen Queens of The Stone Age Dream Theater
I agree, I don't distinguish between "solo" artists and bands- besides, many of them have bands, anyway (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band), and many of the bands have one member who either dominates the public spotlight or basically writes the large majority of the music. Ian Anderson, from Jethro Tull, is a perfect example. And Weezer. And The Cars (Rick Ocasek writes the words and music to 99+% of their songs- matter of fact, you can argue that someone like Mike Campbell has more influence on song direction on Tom Petty than Greg Hawkes does on Rik Ocasek). So, for me, there is no distinction. Top 10 Artists: 1. Bruce Springsteen 2. The Who 3. U2 4. REM 5. The Beatles 6. Marvin Gaye 7. The Kinks 8. Cheap Trick 9. Rush 10. Jethro Tull But if i had to go by the original criteria: 1. The Who 2. U2 3. REM 4. The Beatles 5. The Kinks 6. Cheap Trick 7. Rush 8. Jethro Tull 9. Radiohead 10. The Clash And the top 10 solo artists would be: 1. Bruce Springsteen 2. Marvin Gaye 3. Van Morrison 4. Bob Dylan 5. Prince 6. Elvis Costello 7. Buddy Holly 8. Jackson Browne 9. Stevie Wonder 10. Tie among Bob Seger, Warren Zevon, Nas, Jimmy Cliff, Miles Davis, Don Henley, Lennon/McCartney/Harrison, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and Pete Townshend.
I'm more of a HipHop head (Nas, AZ, Budden,XV) but I'll share a few: Incubus always has a good sound. Bush Smashing Pumpkins Minus the Bear Shins Don't hate me for this either, but I have always enjoyed Marilyn Manson. From the music to the creative videos...much respect.
