Idk what's worse, the idea of even bringing in Romo as our qb, or IMO what will go down as one of the worst contracts in sports history that Romo somehow got from Jerry. If I was a Cowboys' fan I'd be livid, but I'm not so this just simply amuses the crap out of me
How can you say "there is no argument" they are both decent QBs that don't play well under pressure..
romo is a gunslinger with a big arm who takes far more risks due to dallas' pass happy scheme. he could be tamed in the right system.. schaub is a very limited qb in a qb friendly system. he does not have the big arm and can not beat coverages. schaub is his best when the system is running fluid, guys are wide open, dbs are biting hard on the stretch, and the run game is doing the bulk of the ball handling.. the year schaub led the league in passing, the texans were behind in every game and playing catch-up
I probably like Romo more than most here. I think the Texans aren't good enough overall to win with a "safe" QB like Schaub based on this past year performance(2011 I thought they could). So a high risk/high reward guy like Romo would seem to be a better fit. But that contract is utterly ridiculous. The only way that contract makes sense is if the NFL has decided to go cap-less and FA market values are baseball money.
Okay guys,i know this thread is old, and i know everyone loves to hate on Tony Romo, but the truth is he can ball and he would've been a better answer for this team than schaub. As a qb in Kub's offense, Schaub has the ultimate safety blanket. He has a great line, a great running game with one of the best backs in the league, and one of the best wr's in the history of the game, along with a pro bowl te. The Texans never rely on Schaub, our offense is based on play action so he always has high percentage throws. In Dallas Romo has his turnovers, yes, but that's because they rely on him, their running game is almost non existent and he has to gamble to make something happen. Do you honestly think Schaub would have numbers as good as he does now if he was with Dallas? Absolutely not. Now imagine Romo, who has a better arm than Schaub and is way more mobile, with the benefit of a great line and a great running game, in a scheme that will give him easy throws from boots. I mean the guy's had a 90+ qb rating the past 7 yrs despite subpar lines and running games. It's a shame he'll never be a Texan and will be forever trapped in Jerry World.
