Tha **** is up with this grade school mentality? 3 serious questions... how old are you, how long have you been watching pro sports, and have ever played organized sports before? These are grown men gettin paid, and this is the NBA, not girls' peewee league! Nothing different than a boss getting on you at work.
    Soccer mom pampering ftw!

you guys don't get it. Mchale is messing with the players mentality. He is telling them they need to play hard because they get paid millions of dollars to go play basketball. He clearly doesn't know what he is talking about.

If you check my previous post I hate McHale with a passion! But tonight, the team played really good D and JLin didn't get any over extended benching for TOs....maybe because we're short Harden...it's a start and I'm satisfied with the team play.

    This x100

I've been looking at a lot of TWolves forums to get insight on opinions about McHale.

Some of you Rockets fans are either too kind or delusional.

I've never seen Jeremy Lin get benched purely because of TOs. I've seen him get benched because the other PG is torching him, or because he looked tentative on offense and settling for crappy jumpers that misses, or because he looked out of control not playing within the system.

But he has a lot of TOs even in his good games and McHale don't pull him. If you look at McHale's benching patterns for any of his players, it's almost always taking bad shots or running bad plays. The guy doesn't punish for lack of success, he punishes players for lack of effort or lack of smart play.

Also not true. On some nights, he has played the PG position very well, but since he was playing a cross dressing SG that moonlights as a pg, it looked like he was getting torched. When in fact, his match up was just reaching his average of 22 points.
To me, if the flow of the offense is stagnant and it's because of lin, then he should be benched. But rarely does the ball get "sticky" when lin is playing POINT.

the "torching" can be nullified by better team defense on the pick and rolls, which are parker's and westbrook's bread and butter. But lin has held his own in those match ups with the elite guards. you can look it up. not bad for a first time starter.

Some new pieces to the puzzle:

    http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....yers-frustrated-with-smarts-random-rotations/

“It’s just tough as a player,” starting point guard Isaiah Thomas said following Friday night’s loss to the Mavericks. “I always say that when you have inconsistent minutes, you’re going to have inconsistent production.

“It’s nothing we can control,” Thomas continued. “It’s how coach Smart likes to coach and you just got to go with it and always be ready at all times, because you never really know when you’re going to go in the game or come out…”

“A little bit, it’s a little frustrating,” Tyreke Evans said when asked if Smart’s rotations were wearing on him. “Everybody’s frustrated. This is the NBA and when the rotation don’t go right for us, we’ve got to be professional. We’ve got to learn to hear our coach. If he don’t make the right subs with somebody, you can’t be mad. Whoever’s out there just got to work.”

Well, I guess that's Morey's new moneyball approach. Make your players lose more and more confidence which leads to more and more wins. Jeremy Lin after a half a season of losing his confidence? Best stretch of his Rockets career. Omer Asik with all the benchings early in the season? Dunk Machine.

It's obvious that Keith Smart isn't making his players lose enough confidence. Once Tyreke Evans get the Jeremy Lin treatment, he'd be the next James Harden they fired him to be since his rookie year.

The Kings lack of confidence probably has more to do with them not being any good. Winning/losing, ultimately, is the most important factor in generating confidence on a team.

McHale will be the first to tell you that he'd much prefer a set rotation. As is, though -- not knowing which guys will show up each game -- the Rockets are better off rotating guys in and out. If you want to blame somebody, blame Morey, not McHale.

    Come on, really?

If the players are that mentally weak, they don't belong in the NBA.

Yeah imagine if the Kings were 9 games over .500 would the players still feel the same? 27-50 would be a confidence killer.

I'm with you. Luckily, I'm convinced our players have thick skin. It's the new breed of fan with paper thin feelings.
