Harden deferred too much today, which was why he was ineffective.

I am not sure what "people" would want, but IMO, I think he should not be passive or force things. Do to the nature of our offense which is largely predicated on beating your man off of the dribble to create offense for yourself and others, I would want him to be aggressive doing this as this is the offensive hand of cards he has been dealt by the coaching staff, and he is out best threat at this style of play. However, if someone is open, depending on the circumstances, I think he should pass the ball.

Disrespecting your teammates who are among the best basketball players in th world will only lead to mediocrity.

I agree on Randolph and Gasol, but disagree on Conley. Lin was doing a good job on him. He had 15 points and 10 assists in 36 minutes to Lin's 8 points and 3 assists in 23 minutes. This game just proves that the 4 spot needs improvement and that Houston's lack of post play is can be a bad thing.

It's a tough call and a really a grey area, because he's so talented offensively and that is true. However, I have seen how well the offense flows when we are passing the ball well and there is movement.

Are you serious? Here's a math lesson. On any random team, playing the starters will usually win you more games than playing the bench players from the same team. I can't believe I even had to explain this. LOL

Exactly. Surprising so many otherwise knowledgeable fans greatly underestimate team play.

He's not passive tonight, he's just Off both offensive and defensive sides tonight.

Sure, I agree. Ideally, you always make the high percentage play, and that's usually passing to the open guy. Sometimes, you should pass to the open guy even if its not the highest percentage play, just to keep guys involved and encourage ball-movement. And there are times where "forcing" something to put the other team in foul trouble or get himself into a rhythm if he sees that opportunity can also be a good choice.

I think Harden, in general, does a good job overall of balancing getting himself shots and facilitating for teammates. We're talking about a guy who produces a ton of points without taking a lot of shots and who also has a high assist rate for his position. I've never heard any commentator/analyst say that Harden is a ball-hog.

Every team in the league would take harden for that money now. It's us who wouldn't trade him.

    Assist stats are skewed.

I highly doubt if you asked NBA coaches and GMs they'd agree with your assertion that Harden's the 2nd best at finding the open man in the NBA that's not a PG. I'd put Tim Duncan well above Harden in terms of efficiently choosing when to score and hitting the open man (he's done it to the tune of 4 Championships and 2 MVPs). Marc Gasol is right at the top of the NBA this year, especially since the Gay trade at iniating the offense from the elbow.

Wade is up there too - he's at least as good as Harden.

A little more effort on defense. Not turning his match-up with Tony Allen into a personal 1 on 1 contest.

Are you implying that was Lin's fault because he was guarding him? I would think it would be more the fault of whoever was guarding the man Conley passed to. Of course it's not always that simple as defense is a team responsibility. For example if Lin let Conley blow past him so Asik had to pick him up and Conley passed to Asik's man who dunked it's more Lin's fault than Asik's.
