Yeah, especially when the bench was gassed, the odds of getting a magical win for the bench against the memphis starters was almost like winning a lottery.

I would've at least respected McHale if he said he benched the starters to send some message or to rest them. (I wouldn't agree, but I would respect that..)

But what did he say? .....The guy is seriously obsessed with some phantom energy.

Actually the bench was playing starting from the third quarter, and they gained 8 or 6 points on the Griz, depending on which substitution you mark it from.

What were you saying about quarters?

    Thoughts on the game:

    1. Harden was playing like a jackass. He tried turning this game into a personal 1 on 1 matchup with Tony Allen. Like I've said before, it isn't a November game anymore. It's April, teams are vying for playoff spots, and coaches are sending in tapes to the NBA for officiating review. So Harden opting to jump into defenders hoping to go to the line as opposed to making a real play is moronic. It's not working now and will backfire come the playoffs.

If you're having an off-night, pass the ball. Don't continually get owned by one of the league's best defenders, run into him, and pretend like he fouled you. That's how you lose games. This type of **** is what Kevin Martin did.

Props to Tony Allen he's just too good. There are "solid defenders" like Courtney Alexander and Mike Conley who stay in front of their assignment, and make their nights tough. There are "good defenders" like Shane Battier and Shawn Marion that can defend multiple positions and make their nights tough. Then there are "great defenders" like Tony Allen, LeBron, and peak Ron Artest that can just completely shut down their man, turn them into a negative, and just mess up offenses. A player like Allen would turn around Houston's D.

    2. Jeremy Lin. Wow, just wow. No plan at all. Just drive into the lane and pass it off to a fumbling Asik. Finish the play. You're not Steve Nash playing with Marion and Amare, you're a big fast guard that has shown the ability to take contact and finish. Someone make him watch tapes of Gary Payton. Either trade him or start Beverly, because this is just not working. The coaching staff has no real plan for him, and he has no real plan.

    3. That stretch where Delfino was guarding Randolph. You've got to be ****ing joking me. Speechless. Absolutely speechless. The top defensive powerforwards and centers in the NBA have issues stopping Randolph. And that was this coach's plan, to put a 6'6 swingman on him. Way to out think yourselves guys.

    4. Marc Gasol is quickly becoming a true franchise player. Come playoff time, if he's playing like this, he'll be among the Top 5 most valuable players in the league. Can do a ridiculous amount of things on offense, disrupts people on defense, uses his size well. Memphis would be smart not to waste his talents these next few years.

If the Rockets miss the playoffs again, enough with the excuses someone needs to pay. A franchise this successful missing the playoffs again? No.

I actually love Lin believe it or not. He is just so inconsistent considering the number of games he has played thus far. It just annoys me that LOF are so biased and blind as to how Lin's inconsistent and bad play affects the team and they take it out on Mchale. If you know basketball, you would want Lin to sit out and not embarrass himself too.

Is it possible the team is focusing too much on trying to defend? (and failing miserably?)

The life of this team is in the offense - which doesn't seem to be clicking anymore. We actually haven't seen it click for an extended period in weeks.

Kevin Mchale really sticks with "energy" in his game plan. He should draft Sacre kind of guy next year

Nah, don't believe you. Lin's been playing like sht and I'd smack him if I could and was screaming to sit him in the 1Q, but how on earth does a 'Rockets fan' revel in the idea of seeing their PG get owned by an opposing player? Nice.

In NBA, in the 4th quarter, trailing by 9, with 9:22 left, it is really 'nothing'. how often have we seen this? probably a million times in the past. It seems to be that Mchale was trying to prove something but the players said 'hell with it". Is Mchale a lousy coach? IMO I think he is (you don't have to agree or disagree, you opinion is respected) We can always review all those games they have played so far this season and you be the judge. In fact, as I said before, head coaches are always the first ones to go if their teams keep losing for whatever reasons. For Mchale, he will likely go if the Rockets can't make it to the playoffs this season. If this is the other way around, he may stay. Is not all about fairness but your team record. If your team is a really bad one and is not expected to win, the coach will probably stay regardless of team record. Otherwise, coaches are always the first.

And like I have said a couple of times already, the bench did their job against the Memphis bench. Either make a difference or keep it close and they did. Starters should have been brought back in. Bench players are ( with rare exceptions ) on the bench because that is where they belong and suffer from extended use.
