no but saying "i'm ok with losing this game to make a statement" is throwing the game, and you can't tell me that's what's going through McHale's head.

If he actually thought the bench could bring them all the way back playing the entire 4th then he's more looney than i thought.

Anyone think that McHale might have been sending a message AND saving his starters for a tough home game tomorrow night against the Clippers?

And I'm saying "best player" is relative to situations, including injury, matchup, attitude, hangover, etc.

McHale, with his postgame quote, seems to define "best player" according to energy tonight. I know from T-Mac that the "best player" is not always the best player.

It's as close to throwing the game as you can get without bringing in the 3rd string.

Even if it's 1/4, that's still a LOT more than the odds of the Bench pulling out a win when Memphis subs in their starters.

Harden, Lin and Parsons have all shown they can be explosive players in the 4th quarter on more than one occassion. And Asik is hands down our best big.

Take all 4 out and your odds are dramatically worse.

Saving them for the Clippers makes very little sense given this team's track record on back to backs, let alone against the Clippers... a team that is higher seeded than Memphis and arguably an even TOUGHER match up due to their pace.

And while we're on the topic, I hope our bench has something left in the tank tomorrow... the Clippers bench is one of the best in the NBA.

Let me guess, you're looking forward to it and hoping it happens.

It's a difference in quitting and sending a message....he was sending a message!

And if the starters don't play well tomorrow to start off the game, I will pull them after the 5 min mark!!! James Harden too.

I'm saying their starters did what they had to to win the game. Also, that the frontcourt obviously did better against them in the 4th quarter ( and the whole second half ) and this is what made the biggest difference. But if you think our bench is going to actually beat a starting unit, go ahead and believe that. Thebnech did the job against memphis' bench. They don't need to be rewarded for this, that's why they get paid. The starters should have played so they would at least have a chance to win.

Although it might be true, there are many better ways to deliver a message in this electronic era.

Also, the 1st unit was barely outscored inn the first quarter. Better than being outscored by 6 ( the bench in the 4th ) right? So I'm a genius now and should coach the team. Or your logic is stupid and going by quarters alone is ****ing r****ded

Who says that about their own players? Interesting.

I've been saying it from day 1 - the season is lost when you favor ISO over team play. Add to that no defense from key players. Another coach, another system is needed for next year. This year is over and practically wasted.

Mchale knew that this game was not as important as the playoffs and all the games after it. Mchale wanted to prove a point about effort. I really wish I could here is locker room speach after the game. I bet it got pretty testy

I can't disagree with you on that....an average player against an elite player on his average night is definitely a toss up.

Its amazing to me that LOH talk about "the team" and yet get giddy wishful that their starting PG get embarrassed by the opposing PG.
