Of course he doesn't have any confidence. How can you be confident in your game when your coach benches you after a couple of mistakes or a couple of misses?
No one is consistent in the NBA (not like Kobe gets 28 points every night, he swings from 15-50)....you just take all the game and average them and that's your consistency. Lin is a 32 mpg, 12.9 ppg, and 6 apg player on this team this year...this just happens to be his spot. Does any player always hit their mark every single night?People analyze Lin too much....the haters and lovers equally.
That is far from the truth. Lin was playing PG when he threw it away 3 times in the first quarter. Nothing has changed, the only common denominator is Lin. He is not consistent, period. But of course I don't expect you to see that because you are another blind LOF that blames everything on McHale.
Partially agree...but the problem is McHail pulled out only Lin, Asik, and DMO and not Parsons and Haren even thought they both played equally bad. By playing you do have the chance to negate what you've done. In this particular game, I would have love to see McHail pull all the starters out. It's obvious that Harden and Parsons are McHails two go to guys. Also, he was hoping for Harden to break the bad shootings but that never came, due partly to refs not blowing anything.
That's true, but as soon as Asik fumbles a pass or Lin makes a turnover, the coaching staff overreacts and it's back to Harden ISO, 9 times out of 10 that ends up with an L and the whole team sucking.
The solution that will make you Lin fans happy is to watch Lin play by himself. Have him in a gym, charge $10, have a food cart with Korean tacos, and watch him shoot and dribble. and when he makes a basket, you can do the Palo Alto shuffle.
I don't disagree with that, like i said in the game thread, I thought McHale should've taken Harden and Dmo out in that 3rd quarter. Lin and Dmo and Asik to an extent obviously have shorter leashes. But I just hate it when LOFs blame all of his shortcomings on someone else or say some uneducated BS like "Lin would be consistent if he was allowed to play PG", or "Lin has been sucking because he isn't allowed to play PG".
If it isn't McHale was fired, it would be Harden's ISO, if Harden got traded, it would be because of Asik's stone hands. The excuses will never end because they put Lin on a pedestal. 32 mpg average is not bad at all.
Then his career goal is to be a mediocre player in a mediocre team to make sure he starts? He should shot for better goals. I'm sure lin come out better than your prescription.
It's amazing to me how many CF members seem to have inside knowledge on coach McHale's reasoning for his in game decisions. They also seem to have certainty about McHale's motivations for treating specific players in ways which appear illogical to these fans. How is it that they know all this to be the truth? Is there some psychic ability which these fans happen to share?
You mean "attacking PG". Any NBDL quality player (uh like that Bev kid) can be the PG of Houston Rockets right now if all they gotta do is bring the ball up, give the ball to Harden as soon as they cross the halfcourt, and go to corner to wait for the kickout pass. They don't even have to be a PG, if they can dribble well enough to bring the ball upcourt and to shoot corner 3s, they can play in this style. But we're so much better when Lin is allowed to be the "attacking PG" because it makes the team's offense multi-dimensional. Suddenly everyone gets touches, and ball starts moving. If you're open, you're guaranteed to have the ball. And Harden's efficiency as the catch and score player is actually much higher than when he's ISO-ing (sort of like the system he played back in OKC when he got passes from Westbrook and KD instead of being the ISO man). In contrast, the Rockets' offense becomes one-dimensional when Harden isos too much. It becomes much more predictable. How many times Harden got his layups blocked in isos? Most of the 3-18, 5-22 **** shooting nights he put up were the product of his own heavy ISO-Harden. If you're LeBron, shooting 53+%, you can ISO all game, and nobody can really argue. But if you ISO too much, and start shooting 5-22, 4-20, that leaves room for better answer.
I think as a fan of a certain player or players, sometimes you ignore the fact that coaches do have their favorites and their go to guy (whether it's the best player or most consistently player). The problem is that sometimes such coaching decision does actually hurt the team, but nothing you can do as a fan. You see this all over the NBA...where you have players being misused to the detriment of the team. But the truth is you can't really blame McHail too much...there is probably a reason he let Lin go last season and the fact that he's had to deal with two new rosters just this year.
You have almost the same sentence again and again in your every post since last game(Close to 10 times?). Is Lin the only one had turnovers in the last game? How many others had turnovers?
Ah, yes. The LinBORG drones. Must resist their attempts to twist logic and stats to support the evil takeover of CF. It's not futile.
I keep seeing people harp about 3 TOs by Lin. So that got me curious. How many times have the starters committed at least 3 turnovers in a Rocket's Loss? B-Ref has an easy tool for me to see that: James Harden: 26 times (69 starts) Omer Asik: 17 times (71 starts) Jeremy Lin: 17 times (71 starts) Chandler Parsons: 11 times (70 starts) Carlos Delfino: 2 times (5 starts) Marcus Morris: 1 time (6 starts) Daequan Cook: 1 time (1 start) Bonus. How many times have a player had 3 TOs in one quarter in a loss? James Harden: POR, Nov 3rd, 3rd Q DEN, Nov 7th, 1st Q DAL, Dec 8th, 4th Q BOS, Jan 11th, 1st Q LAC, Jan 15th, 1st Q DEN, Jan 23rd, 3rd Q MIL, Feb 27th, 3rd Q (Happened in a span of 2 mins) PHX, Mar 9th, 3rd Q Omer Asik: DEN, Jan 30th, 4th Q IND, Jan 18th, 4th Q Jeremy Lin: IND, Jan 27th, 1st Q Main Takeaway: If the logic is that the Pacer's game was lost due to Lin's 3 TOs, then by extension Harden lost us EIGHT (8) games that way and Omer lost us 2 games while Lin only lost us 1. Also, not all turnovers are created equal. Like offensive goaltending is a turnover and counts as much in the stat sheet as passing to your opposing team's PG for a fastbreak. 3 turnovers in the first half of the first quarter is not why the Rockets loss the game against the Pacers. Lin definitely put himself in a position to be criticized. But the criticism still needs to be valid.
