To people who want a change in the starting lineup at this stage crucial of the season, i don't know who you are, i don't know what you want but i will find you and i will kill you.
1) so since we aren't playing for the playoffs, it makes sense to keep DMo in the starting line-up since he is the only 'stretch 4' pf we have, per the system 2) TROB IS Getting minutes. This obsession with who starts and who doesn't is stupid. All that should matter is who is getting minutes. Why are you complaining if DMo starts and TROB comes off the bench when he might get more minutes? Is being there at the tip-off really that important to you? 3) My ranting and raving as you put is based on knee-jerk threads. Not to mention there is already a thread AND POLL that asks the question "Tire of Dmo yet?" which is essentially the same exact thing you reposted. So your discussion is redundant, hence I can rant and rave all I want. sorry
ClutchFans: Where real Rockets fans meet ****ing idiots. Every win: Silence. Every loss: NEW PEOPLE OMGZORZ EVERY STEP OF MANAGEMENT AND TEAM WTF
So far it's only about 64% of the voters in this thread, but we can probably try to find you through your twitter if you like. Again, our chemistry in the starting lineup is with Lin, Harden, Parsons and Asik. Changing out DMo with TRob right now is NOT going to throw us off balance. On the contrary, it will give us 11 games to decide which of them will be better to start during the playoffs. Who knows, we might need to go back to DMo by then if he plays well as a backup.
Even though I think Trob is the better player and I even voted for him to start It really shouldn't happen. What I think should happen is continue starting dmo. When his offense is rolling to start the game the rockets are pretty good. If after 5 min he sucks bring Trob in for the game with the starters. It really that simple. Also the stretch 4 thing is bogus ppl act like Trob can't chuck that shot up and prob hit it as frequently as dmo has been lately. Just cause u can attempt the shot doesn't mean ur a stretch 4 lol. Trob has good form and shot mechanics better than dmo actually. I don't see him not developing that part of the game over the summer. Another question I want to ask ppl? Don't want to start a new thread tho. What do you guys think of Trob working with the Dream? Personally I think he has the athletic ability length and quickness to actually take some of dreams moves and actually use them in the game. I really think he could develop that dream shake he's prob the quickest big we've had since the dream and seems to have good timing an bball iq to know when he could use that move. If Trob could develop the turn around post up jumper and a mid range jumper he would be just unstoppable on offense. I really think he is our pf of the future he does everything from a basketball standpoint. Long athletic plays good defense really good rebounder has a good handle on the ball is a good passer and has nice form on his shot. The tools are all there for him to be a stud at all aspects of the game I'm super excited we fleeced him away from sac. I think morey did it again turning a nice player into a Allstar.
I thought this would be a start Beverly over Lin thread...lol. Which is about as good a chance of happening as Robinson starting for D-Mo... May as well see if it can work before playoffs because D-Mo has been practically a none-factor. And call T Jones back up from the D league and stop playing Delfino at the 4...
The "system" is not the only thing that's important here. The "system" is expected to evolve with some type of low post presence in the future to balance the team out. The point is we are looking forward to the playoffs, but looking at the bigger picture down the road and PF is a serious concern for this team. So finding out what we have in ALL of our young PFs is good to do this year to help with off season planning and moves. It's not an obsession with who starts, it's about seeing what our young PFs can do with the starters for our future. Playing with the starting unit is important when you have a good coach that knows rotations and substitution patterns. It may not look as important now since we have a dude that doesn't have a clue in that department. If it doesn't matter to you, why are you so upset since DMo could still get his minutes off the bench? Obviously it means something to you for DMo to start. Somehow that thread didn't attract me so I hadn't read even the first page of it when I started this thread. I don't know how I missed it, but if I had read it, you are right, I probably wouldn't have started this thread. If you haven't noticed, I haven't posted in that thread...yet. And yes, you can rant and rave all you want. It's a free discussion board. Anyone that wants to look like an internet idiot is free to do so as much as they please.
I think that would be a GREAT IDEA. I also think that you are spot on about his potential. Again it's still just potential, but it's definitely there. I would love to see it pan out and him to be what some thought was possible from him.
DMo is not ready to start yet. And I'm not sure he ever will. He is just so week on defense any offensive strengths he has are totally negated. Time to start TRob. Period. He's been getting better every game. Can't say the same for DMo.
Wrong. We didn't have TRob until recently. I have little doubt he'd have started much earlier in the season had we acquired him earlier. Maybe it's not the right time to make a move. But, as you say, we're not winning the title this year. So why not put our best PF for the future in the lineup. That's TRob, not DMo.
for now keep the starting lineup as is. we're an offensive minded team so we wanna have the best chances to start the game strong if trob can stay consistent then start him at pf for a game and see how it works out
It's almost a draw, no one excels enough above the others. Mix and match Smith/DMo/TR to start depending on the opponent. Let it be known that's the plan so you don't step on anyone's toes.
The best power forward for the future is probably T-Jones. He's better offensively than T-Rob and he's better rebounding and protecting the rim than D-Mo. And if McHale would stop running the stretch 4 as much they could play Smith at the 4 position as well.
