Didn't they say the same thing about Lin and the NBA

so what makes you an expert as to why Beverly can't turn out to be better than Lin?

How do you know if Bev is or is not destroying Lin @ practices, do you go to all practices and have film footage to objectively assess?

Calm your t*** lol, Lin is good but if Beverly gets a shot to show that he is better, than why shouldn't he be starting? This might be better for the Rockets, perhaps? Some LOFs dont give a **** about the benefit of the team if Lin isnt getting minutes or if McHale pulls him out.... hence LOF = poor rockets fans because they put the interest of a player before the team...

Eactly! Lin does not suck. His style of play is currently clashing with Harden's.

I don't think it clashes at all, the Rockets are at their best when both Lin and Harden are attacking the basket.

I don't think starting Bev is going to make things better. Aside from his hustle he's pretty non-existent when he plays with Harden for an extended period of time. His shot is just as streaky as Lin, Parsons, etc too. Not to mention starting Bev will just make opposing defense key in on Harden even more.

Yeah Bev would average like 10 pts, 5 assists in 30+ minutes. Basically a Bledsoe lite. Our only options are, for Lin to improve quickly, or to upgrade the position.

No they are not. Lin can't defend opposing point guards properly. Beverley on the other hand has shown that he can do so effectively and still score at a good pace.

I think are just a few point guards that give Lin trouble, overall I think he is a better defender than Beverley. Beverley is more aggressive but that doesn't always lead to being a better defender.

Yep and with those increased minutes comes better FG%

    48% fg
    38% 3pt in that stretch.

What team have you been watching? When Beverley is in he slows the opposing PG's down. When Lin is in it is like a shootout the he usually loses.

I still see the opposing point guards scoring on Beverley just as much and a lot of times more than they score on Lin. There are a few pg's that Beverley has actually played better on but for the most part I think Lin is better.

I think where people get confused is by the aggressive play of Beverley. While I like his aggressiveness it doesn't mean he is playing better D, it seems to me that people often get that impression that because he is being so aggressive that his defense is better, it's about stopping the other team from scoring not just harassing the ballhandler.

Tony Parker lit up defensive stopper Beverley like a Christmas tree by scoring like six points in a row in the 4th quarter on him. The aggressive style of D of Bev does not mean much against the elite PGs of the league, it just results in quick fouls.

Personally I think Beverley has a slight edge on Lin defensively. Depending on match-ups, Beverley can be much better than Lin.

The problem is, when Beverley is in, opposing defense has even less reason to not just key in on Harden, especially if Parsons and/or Delfino aren't lighting it up. And we become so dependent on Harden to create for himself and his teammates, and the offense becomes stagnate.

Being the superstar that Harden is, sometimes he can pull it off single-handedly, but sometimes not. Lin helps get Parson, Asik and DMo/Smith easy shots and make them more of a threat to the opposing defense.

But Lin still has consistency and turnover issues, the latter much improved from last year but still far from optimal. When he's off, it makes things that much harder for the rest of the team.

And as commendably as Beverley has played, he's not a threat offensively, doesn't run the team offense well, and it's also game by game how it his impact defensively can cover his offensive shortcomings.

I'll take back a LITTLE of my words. Right now Beverley has slight edge in game effectiveness on Lin. He's affecting the game with pure aggression and occassional shot making.

Both of them had a hand in shutting down George Hill, it wasnt all Beverly. Its just noticable how Lin isnt quite AS in the mix. Outside turnovers, Lin wasnt even "off" last game. He just didnt make himself more a factor. (Yeah its kinda a bit like the old Kenny Smith/Sam Cassell duo.)

Of course Greg Smith beasted last game and Omer Asik was a non-factor. The UNBELIEVABLE Greg Smith? But when its beginning to be a trend, you just have to point it out

Isnt that part of a coach's job though? To recognize the better performer and not let loyalties get in the way? Of course it makes sense.

He has shown flashes of brilliance, but to sustain it, I doubt it. Beverly playing 28 minutes as PG with only 1 assist, blame Harden for not making most of it, or he would have more assists. Did we just forget Lin had a 38 pt game this season?!?!?!? I'm fine with Beverly as a player, but at this current stage, McHale should just insert him as starter. Stop toying the rotations.
