Mexico shouldn't blame officiating. Just themselves for not converting on the ONE MILLLLLLION(DR. EVIL version) chances. I've never seen such a one sided game. Huge by the US to get a point out of that.

Easy. Mexico choked. Hernandez was hand-fed chance after chance in the box and couldn't finish oppourtunities that he normally makes in his sleep. 17 corners and nothing to show for it?(ouch) The US played as conservative as possible. Their game plan in my opinion was to play for the draw. There offensive game plan was to let Mexico over exert themselves on the offensive side and counter accordingly. Klinnsman may talk the talk(confidence), but doesn't walk it. Terrible game plan and it was just flat out luck it wasn't a 3-0 Mexican advantage.
is this the same forum where just a few weeks ago everyone was going nuts about nani's sending off??? basically everyone 100% convinced that's the sole reason manu lost to rm. oh but now we shouldn't blame the officials. how convenient. if you know anything about soccer you know that one goal for or against changes everything. mexico were wasteful but they dominated the game in every phase. regarding the unrewarded penalties, in concacaf on the road 9/10 you don't get those calls. luckily the usa did and thus were able to steal a point thanks to the officials.
lol you mad bro? "thanks to the officials" lol Guzan would have stopped the Mexican penalty anyways -- did ya see their shots the entire game?? I mean come on, son
I know a little bit about soccer, thank you! Human error is part of the game, and maybe Mexico should have scored on just one of the 17 corners they took. You must be that guy on the team who makes excuses and doesn't own up to anything? If you knew what a good soccer team was, then you would realize Mexico should have scored on the bazillion chances they got.
Y'all are both right. Mexico did not capitalize on the scoring chances, and the refs sucked at not calling a bunch of fouls. He handed out cards to . Why can't it be BOTH? I'd say 70-30 percentage-wise in favor of the Mexico choking.
Shots were 19-1 in favor of mexico. Chances in front of the net all night long. Don't choke all every single one of them and the ref missing what probably should have been a penalty doesn't matter. The refs didn't cause mexico points. Mexico choking cost them the points.
Is it me or does the U.S just not have as good a team as past years? It seems to me that the talent is lacking. I don't know, I don't really keep up with them as much as I do as South American countries, but from the games I've seen, they just lack a game changer. I think Altidore flat out sucks, and Dempsey while gifted, just isn't fast enough or technically proficient enough. Donavon is over the hill, and I don't see anyone else stepping up. That said, U.S played really good defense last night. Chicharito had opportunities, but they only seemed easy because they were so close to the goal. Reality is that all his attempts were heavily contested and I'd say most players wouldn't be able to score the opportunities he had.
Altidore has scored 25 goals in 33 games for AZ Alkmaar this season (19 in 51 games last year). There is no way you score that much in one of the top European leagues if you "flat out suck."
Yet, his team is in 14th place. I could see the argument that it's much different to play internationally than in club teams, like it was the case with Bravo last night (Atlas is in 1st, but he's the leading scorer, and he didn't play well last night, also Chicharito isn't starting for ManU but he scored twice against Honduras... so there's a paradigm and we can't compare club stats with National Team stats subjectively). Was every one of those 25 scoring chances against the same defense as last night? I don't think so. He could still suck in USMNT games.
Altidore would have been a great attacking defender had he been developed correctly. His touch is ****. His instincts are ****. I suspect a lot of mismanaged talent in terms of development in the USMNT early on. Maybe that has to due with the lack of speed. It's strange that Landon Douche is probably still the fastest forward in the US and he doesn't even play.
Top European Leagues!?? Let's not get crazy, man. Italy, England, Spain, Germany, Portugal, France and one could squeeze in an argument that Russia and Turkey have better leagues. And even then, you're talking about a lower level club in AZ Alkmaar. The guy has passed through Spain, Turkey, and England without doing anything. He gets to a lower league, in a small club, it's not too hard to shine. He's got a real good body for a forward, really good athlete. But his finishing, technique and movements are all ridiculously average.
There are 39 top division leagues in Europe. The Eredivisie is, at worst, in the top 10. Yes, you could probably interchange spots between them, Russia, Greece and Turkey...and maybe Ukraine. I don't think I was that far off. You two morons are acting as if I said he's better than Messi. All I said was describing his as "flat out sucks" is nowhere near accurate. Scoring 25 goals in a season in a much-better-than-average (is that better for you?) European league does not qualify as "flat out sucks". Is it his fault they're in 14th place? He's clearly doing his job.
No, it's an average league. Alfonso Alves scored 34 goals in 31 game in the Dutch league. He went to England, everyone thought he'd be the next Brazilian stud, and he turned out to be a dud. Oliver Giroud scored 21 goals in the French league, but has only been okay for Arsenal. Mauro Boselli of Argentina scored 43 goals for Estudiantes (Big team in South America), and has yet to score for Wigan. He is terrible. Scoring for a team in a lesser league when faced against poor defenders means nothing. Altidore is just not good. He is still 23, he can still get better. But as of now, his touch, his finishing, his movement are all really below-par
Honestly saying Eredivisie is top league is little misleading. You are right, it is much better than "average" but still huge gap behind Europe's top 5 leagues. I guess "sucks" is all relative. One might not suck compared to high school players or college players but suck compared to the lowest professional level. Altidore might not suck in the Eredivisie but he might suck compared to world class strikers and he might not be very good at the level of World Cup Finals.
Stop defending these **** players Leroy. The prof is in the pudding. The coach can't teach them greatness.
