Seems a little excessive, especially from where you are starting from. I can get on board with a mini fast, of a week juice fast or something but a month is pretty hardcore. If you have the commitment for 30 days of no food then you should have the commitment to just eat clean and workout.

Well finalsbound and I did it together, and the cool parts were what she mentioned, i.e. the cleansing that goes on in your body, the overall feeling of purging toxins, etc.

I remember being out in the pool on like day 5 or whatever and just feeling like I was in some sort of transcendent state of enlightenment.

I do one day water fast once a month. Your body expels the most energy when digestion takes place. So, your body will have time to repair and revitalize your organs etc. I don't know how you are going to last 30 days, but more power to you.

Instead of just water, check out the Lemonade/Master Cleanse diet.

moving from one extreme to another is always a good idea! especially for sustainabilities sake.

    a pox on moderation!

    2 Day Juice Fast - $90

Yeah, it may seem expensive, but it's 5 times per day, and includes everything. You can also use coupon code "BESTOF" for $5 off. Maybe start with something small like this before you aim for something like a 30 day water fast.

At first I thought you meant you were not going to drink water at all...

I don't know if that's good, bad, or WTF. So... good luck to you, dear sir.

Ok, then he can go buy a $100+ juicer, and the fruit, spend 2 hours cleaning, cutting, and juicing and see if he likes it, or he can do this one time and if he likes it, then go and make the juicer investment. You're the expert, you tell him what his best option is.

so spend $90 to decide if he wants to spend $100 on a juicer.. lol ok. that doesnt make much sense at all..

2 hours cleaning and cutting? lol okay.. i wash the veggies down and toss them in the juicer. bag the pulp and hose down the juicer with soap and water... 15-20 minute process.

if he wants to experience juice without the prep and commitment to a juicer, he can stop buy a local juice shop or a place like robeks and grab a 24oz juice for about $3-4.

for $100 you're going to get a pretty ****ty juicer, at least that's what I concluded from my research when my family decided to get a juicer. We have a brevel that costs 200+ and you definitely get better juice if you cut things up. We bag the pulp too and put it in the compost for a fruit/vegetable garden.

But you do make a good point that it's a somewhat serious financial commitment. But if you go ahead and watch that film and see about the potential health benefits of not necessarily juice fasting (although that's good for somebody if, like OP, they are already considering a fast) but just drinking in general. The micronutrients are just so good for you...it's money well spent.
