yeah, "no clear geographic rivals" has been a huge complaint of fans and a huge concern from the rest of the league for the past 50 years. glad he finally got it resolved.

die in a ****ing fire, bud.

i wish you didn't post this.

So he didn't take 2 seconds to think that Astros fans don't give 2 ****s about the Rangers and vice versa? Nope. They're both in Texas so **** it. That's way more important than tradition and history. End of thought process.

Who the **** is Arizona's geographic rival? Colorado's? San Fancisco's geographic rival plays in the other league.

that idiot needs to at least pretend to give a crap by addressing some fake reason on Milwaukee. He has to know that's the first thing people will think of

yeah this was one of my first points a couple years ago...you can say the same thing about tons of teams. what about the marlins? the rays are in the AL. and i guarantee the braves don't give 2 ****s about them or consider them much of a rival. way less so than us and the cubs and cards.

it's all sickening. disgusts me how he is basically saying this to take advantage of whatever % of the public who hear it don't have brains.

So what about the Rays, Marlins, and Braves? No geographical rivals. I guess put Tampa in the NL so they can bridge the gap. Move baseball out of Seattle and Denver too.

Baseball has generally always tried to have opposing leagues in each region so every fan could watch their favorite team on an annual basis. Fan of an NL team in the Eastern half of Texas? You just don't matter anymore.

Lets talk about the great geographic rivalry Detroit has with Chicago, Cleveland, & Toronto.

Hey, we could always move Milwaukee back to the AL to give Minnesota a great geographic rival again.

Read through all this last night as it was being tweeted...wish I hadn't. I've made my peace with the move to the AL...but the purported "logic" behind it is infuriating.

I always look back fondly on my memory of seeing "Bud Selig Memorial Fountain" stickers on the urinals at Osceola County Stadium at Spring Training a few years back

I remembered last night that back in about 2000 I read a book called "Fair Ball" by Bob Costas....

    he proposed realignment....

and his suggestion was the Astros move to the American League.

For all those mentioning Brewers' return to AL instead of Astros' move from NL: Selig said Milwaukee in NL has gone "really, really well."

MLB's Selig: "The difference is this: Milwaukee really wanted to move (to the National League). ... And it's worked out great."

I hope if he ever sets foot in MMP again, we riot before tarring and feathering his ass. I understand they needed to move a team and got lucky that the Astros were in an extortable position. But don't talk to us like we're ****ing five-years-old and we're going to believe every word you say.

Yeah; I'm with a lot of you... it is what it is; I get it. But the manufacturing of a rivalry is such a non-starter for me. Yes, when we're both good, it'll be awesome - but the key is being *good*, not close. Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Utah, Atlanta, St. Louis - to name just a few Houston sports rivals over the years - are nowhere near Houston.

And to suggest Milwaukee wasn't the easier choice... again, I get it. He had Houston over a barrel - but don't play us for fools. I'd prefer he be honest: we had an opportunity to force a move; the Astros caused the least amount of overall disruption; it's beneficial to the Rangers and, we think, long-term, the Astros.

    That's fair and honest.
