a set of fans believe the owner is "cheap". they point to a couple of things and ignore an assload of other facts. they say that people who don't agree need to "open their eyes", etc. yeah, nothing's changed.
I certainly wouldn't point to the Marlins as a model of what we want around here, at least not me. Yes, they went to the world series. I don't want a new set of players every few years though. I have no issues at all with the rebuilding project, in fact it seems to be going well. I just hope we keep them around when it's time to pay them, and even more I hope we will be willing to add pieces to the puzzle as we move forward and it makes sense to do so. I have felt since day one that Crane would be the right owner to do that, the last few weeks though he has been really really cocky when it comes to talking about money, the comcast situation, and the fans in general. He needs to just stfu
Well, the WS team was setup under previous ownership. Loria is a tool. However he managed to con MLB into letting him sell the Expos to them and buy the Marlins is beyond me.
I've criticized the Astros on plenty of occasions. It's only stupid stuff that I call out, and will continue to. As you have chided me about, the ignore function is there for you if you can't handle it. And learn to use a damn apostrophe. It's not for plurals. Ever.

The payroll thing is acceptable, there is no reason to spend money on a team that's not gonna make the playoffs anyway, it's the best baseball decision. The network thing is because of CSN, from what I heard they're terrible negotiators.. As in, they stick at one number and they won't go down. UNLESS Crane is trying to keep driving the number dooooooowwwnnnn as much as he can and isn't actually negotiating with them. If so, what an idiot. The move to the AL was gonna happen whether we liked it or not, Bud Selig already had it in his mind. The advertising board is god damn terrible looking, I agree with you, I mean jesus what was the plan just put a eye sore out there so it will effect visiting teams? And I honestly don't care about the whining.
This brings up an interesting question. Would you sacrifice 5-7 years of rebuilding and mediocre to bad baseball for a World Series win and then repeat the cycle?
Been a topic of discussion amongst us for a long-time. We were consistently good for a decade, and haven't managed to win a WS game in 50 years. Marlins have won 2 WS rings despite only making the playoffs twice in their history. Honestly, I'd rather be consistently good. I'd much rather look forward to every season, and come out disappointed.
I don't have a huge problem with Crane other than the TV thing, if he has any influence over that at all. Most of the things he and Luhnow are doing to the team are things a lot of fans have been screaming for since 2007. Go young, rebuild the system, and start over. Now they are doing just that and there is a group of folks saying that the owner is cheap. Let's revisit this in a few years, and if they continue to trade off talent for prospects and maintain a $30MM payroll, then fine; he's cheap. But let's give them some time to do what they need to do to right the ship. Drayton and his multiple GMs really drove this team into the dirt and it's going to take some time to fix it.
Nope. I'd gladly take what we had between 97 to 2006 again even if it means no WS wins. 2004 was one of the most entertaining seasons I've ever watched. Give me an entertaining summer of baseball any year. By the time fall rolls around my mind is on football anyway.
I can never remember if the deal I made with God was to get to the World Series or win the World Series. I have been worried about that since 2005.
