since the mavs and spurs are always in it, it was probably every year in the last decade that the Rockets made it in
It's a "who do you want to see collapse, the Lakers or Mavericks?" Of course the Lakers, they have all that talent. Plus the Rockets could benefit from their collapse in the offseason... Also, I would love to see Dirk and co. get the crap beat out of them in the playoffs.
Lakers have a 2-1 edge vs Mavs with one more h2h game Apr 2nd. Lakers are also ahead in Conf record 19-22 vs 18-24
Crazy, 3 of the Rockets most hated teams are vying for the 8th position. It's impossible to even root for any of the teams cause it sounds disgusting thinking about it.
Think Rockets first and what can we possibly benefit from the outcome? As remotely as it may sound, Dwight signs with us as a FA if Kobe heroballs Lakers out of PO.
Worst case scenario, Rockets freefall on a losing streak while Dallas moves ahead, taking away our 8th seed and sending us to the 14th lottery pick.
Dallas games... V Clippers V Indiana V Chicago @ Lakers @ Denver @ Sacramento @ Portland V Phoenix V Denver @ Hornets V Memphis V Hornets So half of their games against teams better than them. I think it would take a collapse from the Lakers.
And the Mavs are now 1 game behind the Lakers, with a game against the Lakers in hand. They're now in control of their playoff destiny for the first time this season. They're 22-13 since the 10th of January - I'm going to say they make the playoffs over the Lakers.
Right now, Houston, Utah, and LA all have identical conference records of 19-23. Dallas has a conference record of 19-24. If Dallas beats LA, they could take the playoff spot from them.
too hard to predict. starting with the Lakers game April 2nd, the Mavs have nine consecutive conference games to finish the season. that leaves 8 after the Laker game to determine the tiebreaker (if Dallas can win). the Jazz would have the tiebreaker over both LA and Dallas with a 4-2 combined record and would take the 8th spot if they all end up tied
Believe it or not, there are much more fans who go to Mavs games than they do in Houston for the Rockets.
Not sure if I follow entirely, each team has two more games against east teams. What if Lakers lose to Dallas, and it's two remaining east games, while winning out. Lakers beat their east teams, but lose to Dallas and two of the remaining west match-ups, while wiining out. Then, LA can make they playoffs while losing to Dallas and finishing the season tied with them. Right?
um, 2009? the Lakers only have Milwaukee in the East and 10 conference games including the Mavericks on April 2nd. the Mavs have Indiana, Chicago, and then 9 straight game Conference games. the Mavericks can beat the Lakers and the tiebreaker for both teams would be determined by those remaining games. there's no way to tell how it will go by April 2nd. the Mavs must win that game to stay in the picture of a tiebreaker scenario.
I would if even a seven game losing streak to end the season at this point will knock us out of playoffs.
