The film industry is dying fast... Every year the vast majority of movies that come out are reboots, sequels, and unoriginal ideas... They couldn't even bother to wait but a couple of months until Olympus Has Fallen came out...
That's nothing new... Volcano and Dante's Peak were same year, Saving Private Ryan and Thin Red Line, Deep Impact and Armageddon, United 93 and World Trade Center. There really aren't too many truly original ideas anymore, if any. But I don't care as long as I'm entertained. Emmerich films, however cheesy usually are at least somewhat fun.
Tatum seems like the most generic actor they could find. I won't be taking part in this one. On the similar movie thing, I wonder if it comes down to studios missing out on one so they make a very similar one around the same time. For what its worth, Olympus is a decent action flick.
I like this game. 1990 Goodfellas, Godfather III, Miller's Crossing & State of Grace. Does 1989 Born on the Fourth of July & My Left Foot count? Both movies about cripples.
They've only been saying this ever since I've been alive. Remember when Deep Impact and Armageddon came out within two months of each other? The film industry didn't die in 1998 and it's not going to die in 2013.
