I think Howard could single handedly turn the ROX into a much better defensive team, that is where I see his value. He can clean up alot of the perimeter guys' mistakes. On offense he wont have butterfingers on easy set up passes, and he will not miss dunks or easy layups. Two things that drive me batty about Asik.

It looks like his back is 100% healed, meaning he is a top 5 player again depending on what team he is playing for. I'd be lying if I said it didn't rub me the wrong way he didn't come to Houston in the off-season. As of right now I can't stand him. But if he signs with Houston, I'll be the first one to buy a jersey.

He's repeatedly said he isn't 100% yet and will work all off-season on getting back to the way he was in Orlando.

This is the thing that alarms me about Rocket fans who don't want Dwight in Houston. We haven't even seen what Dwight is capable of. He's clearly the best Center in the league and isn't even playing well to his standards. Pair him with a 23 year old phenom in Harden who has untapped potential and a killer core of Lin, Asik, Parsons, TRob, Motiejunas, Beverley, Aaron Brooks (How soon we forget) and Delfino.

We would be the best team in the West. I don't know if we can beat Miami in a 7 game series but we can certainly compete.

Dwight Howard instantly makes us contenders. I just can't grasp how some would rather have a Jermaine O'Neal-esque backup to Asik than having Dwight. It's mind-boggling.

Who says we can't play Asik and Dwight at the same time for parts of the game? The Olajuwon/Ralph Sampson combination worked very well until Sampson was forced to retire.

I just can't see how anyone who is serious about winning would say no to a healthy DHo. It's truly mind boggling.

Dwight was a cancer before this summer's dwightmare. There was one the summer before that (Houston tried to trade for him) with his extension fiasco. Orlando also did a wonderful job of keeping Dwight's misadventures and drama under wraps within the media. I don't have the time or willpower to dig up old Magic threads on their forum where a lot of this was discussed. His interactions with his circle and his agent, Dan Fegan, were also less desirable and in my opinion, screamed cancer and diva.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be great on the Rockets or eventually pan out. I'd just take about every other Dwight level FA/signing/trade over Dwight himself, everything else equal, especially with how well Asik anchors the center. If we still had a huge void at the 5, I'd be more forgiving on his transgressions. Most of you guys don't have the perspective that Rockets/Magic fans do from doing their (intensive) homework on the guy, instead of just reading headlines and ESPN stories.

This was about 8 months ago and I've gotten a new computer since then, but I might just go digging if I feel that people just won't go "you don't want Dwight? You're stupid." on me.

They haven't watched Howard at all since the All-star break. Asik mishandles at least 5 balls passed to him on a pick and roll. That's 10 points left on the floor. Howard finishes those. He also leads the league in rebounding.

He has 2.2 TOPG. And some of those are terrible passes.

The more I think about it, the more I like the Josh Smith/Dwight Howard possibility. It's not my first choice, but it'd be pretty cool. Defensively they'd have everything down pat. Since they're good friends, communication will be second nature, something that seems to be an issue with Dwight and Pau. Throw in the fact that they are both awesome in PnR's, and our two guards are good PnR players, it just seems like a nice mix altogether. They're both also relatively young so we can safely sign them to long term contracts.

He seeks attention and is a diva, yes... But he isn't a cancer... He is not a javaris crittenton or a Gilbert arenas, etc... He id will liked and supported in the locker room...

Now, fans may hate his attitude and his indecisiveness, but you are purely speculating... By listingyour source (or speaking of) as a forum... Fans don't like him, that's fine, doesn't make him a cancer... Your speculating and your entitled to that opinion...

Why you would choose every max fa over Dwight is pure ignorance and bias on your part... There is no better fit, both offensively and defensively... Only one close is love, and his injuries and lack of defense make him inferior to Dwight...

Fans are very uninformed and oblivious... They let they're emotions get involved too easy (very similar to you)... Instead of objectively viewing the situation at hand...

Also, nice rebuttal on all the on court arguments and instead lashing onto the cancer part...
