Is it possible that Morey is doing nearly nothing this summer?

Why do people think this is a word? It's not, and it just looks so wrong. It bothers me. The only excuse could be a foreigner who's going off how the words sound when used. Any native speaker who does this...

But yeah Morey will do something. It's in his blood. For Morey to not make roster changes would be like LOFs not lobbing utterly insane critiques of McHale. It goes against their very nature.

Too old and expensive for this team.

I wish they would just play Anderson more. They already have him locked up for two years at under a million each year, might as well try to get some use out of him. And the guy can really play. This would solve Harden and Parsons getting extended minutes as well if you had a steady rotation of Delfino/Anderson.

So far I'm doing nearly nothing this summer, but to be fair, it hasn't started yet. Thus I will reserve my judgement on the question at hand.

If a GM doesn't work in the off-season he gets fired.

If I were to listen to ClutchFans' assessment of our bench talent, I would have to believe that we have buried multiple all-stars for years. Dmo was an all-star until he started playing. Tjones is still an all-star. Royce White is most likely an all-star, albeit a douche bag all-star. Jeremy Lamb was Kevin Martin's big brother who could beat anyone in a shooting contest. Marcus Morris was the next franchise player (with threads written about it).

The grass is always greener with some people...

Depends how things go. Don't think the roster needs much upgrading going into next season with a mixture of proven starters and young high ceiling guys. But I think its been stated the Rockets will go after J-Smoove this off-season.

Was wondering if these guys became available via free agency or trades would you rather get J-Smoove or Pau Gasol? Smith has been talked about a lot but I think Gasol would be a good fit in our offense. My dream would be to get K-Love though.

I disagree. Yes he changes the roster which does affect chemistry, but you want to build chemistry with the right roster who can one day be a contender. No point for the gm to worry about chemistry unless you have a roster that is knocking on the door of a championship.

These are not mutually exclusive events. See the Lakers in case you are looking for further evidence.

What i mean is you cant knock the GM for trading guys away and disrupting chemistry when the team is not anywhere near contender status.

Right... I totally said if we were to play Anderson he would become an all star. Hell, Durant should be shaking when the Rockets led by James Anderson roll into town. The Heat's chances of a repeat championship just shrunk to almost zero with Anderson on the floor against them!

I said Anderson should play backup minutes with Delfino to give Harden and Parsons more rest. You must really hate Anderson, you were the one bashing him in the Anderson>Garcia thread. If it were up to you, our roster would be filled with guys like Garcia that "yell at other players to do the right thing" and "always hustle and encourage" even though they can't play a damn lick of basketball themselves.

Based on past experience, I'm expecting the following.

Plan A: free ipads to Howard and CP3 and give them a max offer sheet.
Plan B: Make calls to various teams wondering if a Kevin Love type of player is available
Plan C: Come up with a price tag for various other FAs, like Josh Smith, and see if certain players have below average market value
Plan D: Tell everyone who'll listen that the Rockets are willing to eat someone's contract so their team can avoid the luxury tax
Plan E: Add random role player for a 1yr contract(+team option).

Everyone in the NBA can play basketball. It's just a matter of if and where they fit in to a team. I think James Anderson is probably a pretty good role player, but every time I open a thread it's just negativity regarding why certain guys aren't playing and their seemingly unlimited potential being squandered. Sometimes they just don't provide what the team and coaches are looking for at that time - it's not some gross injustice.

well he won't do nothing, Garcia will be a goner for sure, though I guess you could replace him in a variety of ways.

the big moves seems much less likely than in year past though. I guess if somehow Howard / CP3 really wants to leave that's going to change things, don't see it though .

One intrigue that has been discussed around before is that if the Lakers are virtually giving away Pau for nothing, would we bite?

Asik is a monster in defense. Howard won't thrive with our offensive system. Our money is better spent on PF, SF and PG. I know Parsons is not expensive but a upgrade on that position is going to be huge.

It's ridiculous that someone would think Josh is a better defender than Iguodala, Josh is nice defensively but by no means he's anywhere near the the level of Iggy's defensive game, eye test wise or stats wise. Iggy is not one of the best, but the single best defensive player of the leagure rightnow.

I dont really mind if we wont get any of these FA this summer, I want CP3 but he aint going anywhere. We stay with we have and let Dmo/Trob/TJ grow and see what happens in 2014.
