I have a prediction - after Royce is long gone #BeWell will replace Sura Faints as the generic response on this BBS! #SuraFaints
I thought Royce was supposed to be open and honest about his anxiety. Now if he was afraid to go on the road trip, why didn't he just say it? We would have understood. Miscommunication? LOL. Most people understand him being afraid of flying and all that. It's him making all these excuses that is why he comes across as a fraud. He trumpets about his openness of talking about his disorder and being a trooper for the same kind of people. Yet he obviously is not an honest person. This is what makes him so hard to root for.
This is my issue. All this idiot is doing is furthering the cause of discrimination against those with mental health issues. No GM is going to want to touch anyone that even remotely hints at an anxiety disorder in the future because it just simply isn't worth the risk after the Royce White shenanigans. Way to go, Royce! #Progress!
I agree, but I think the problem is that Royce seems to think there's a workable solution out there that involves him NEVER being uncomfortable at all. He doesn't seem to be willing to meet the Rockets in the middle, where they'd make necessary concessions and he'd tough it out a bit. Unless he figures that out, he'll never play in the NBA.* * And unless he loses 30 pounds, finds a motor, develops a post game and a mid-range jumper, but those are other issues he'll likewise never address.
PR team does have a nightmare on their hands. But I think leaks got out cuz of Royce himself. I simply think Royce went vigilante AWOL on his own with no regard for leaks or anything. Royce really thinks his twitter'ing and rationales serves as acceptable public statements. Royce before the season was working to have doctor decisions supercede team managerial decisions. It looks like he took his shot on that going off his doctor's recommendations seeing if it would work. Royce only surrounds himself with people he can trust will give him justifications (basically, just a personal doctor. He didnt even want the TEAM doctor). He's not gonna have regard to a PR person only in the "business" of the NBA. But you do have to wonder if its up to team control to let him have interviews. Itd probably look suspect if the team all of a sudden said "DON'T TALK TO ANYONE". And of course Royce would go opening his big bratty mouth on Twitter about what he didnt get and would smear the organization in a bad light. (Which is what Twitter's function is basically about.) So you're just not gonna win with this guy.
Yup, this guy decides to just leave the Vipers without any permission and thinking he can just take the rest of the year off even though he's been sitting on his ass for most of the season any way. He said team doctors ordered him to go back to Houston even though the Rockets management didn't know anything about it. Even if he really took off the rest of the season, its not like he's going to practice and try to improve. This is the thing with Royce White. He thinks he can play whenever and take off whenever. I can't wait for the Rockets to cut this clown.
Yea, some kind of mis-communication.... For some reason he thinks the Rockets would let him go back home and have the rest of the season off even though he only played for like a month.
well he didn't beat his wife and didn't technically rape someone, but impregnating random girls is kinda the legal version of doing that. Still, he had a nice game today in the d-league , 19 points (very efficiently, and he even hit a 3) 8 boards and 6 assists , the assists is really brought down because he had several great passes where the receiver couldn't finish or was fouled. they were close for the early 3 quarter until they put in White / Jones together and they basically just dominated the Tulsa front court. Dear Royce: if your gonna try to do this for a cause as you claim, you need to play well and consistently stay on the floor.
I still don't see a reason to cut him. Give him a documented verbal warning if you think the CNN interview and leaving the team was unjustified, and if he does it again start fining him and/or suspending him. Rookie contract is the least of our worries in terms of cap space, and he can toil in the D-League until he can string together multiple weeks of good play, and the second he does that, trade his ass for a early to middle 2nd rounder or include him as a sweetner in a package when he gets himself together. I don't think you can get anything for him now, so the answer is to push. He isn't a distraction inside the Rockets locker-room, the players don't even know him nor care when asked about him. I'd even argue, the interview on CNN was still free Rockets national publicity, and Don Lemon did a good job of portraying the Rockets as not lacking in any tangible service that ought to be given to Royce, just no "recognition". Push, Morey. Push.
19, 8, and 7. Not as good as TJones' numbers but shows he's worth keeping. I think next year he makes the rockets and is our sixth or seventh man. The only reason not to start him is he needs to prove he is reliable. He's gonna be good.
