Without another star/superstar, Rockets will be pretenders unless one of Trob or Dmo takes the leap

If we did get Dwight Howard and didnt move asik we would have the strongest center rotation in the NBA. It would be extreamly hard for any team to get easy buckets and for all 48 min of the game plus we would be the eat offensive and defensive rebounding team in the league. I mean how many teams can say they have 3 elite rebounders (Dwight, Asik, Trob) I honestly think with the development Of our young pfs and the acquisition of Howard we would be the favorites out west.

Dwight Howard's not a bad guy he's just a bad fit with the lakers. There an old veteran team and he's a young guy who is all about having a good time. Our core is very young and has great chemistry, everyone enjoys being with each other and I think this would make Dwight feel very comfortable. Him and Harden would form the best big man little man combo in the league and prob the best one since Shaq/Kobe. Hardens a team player and is very unselfish plus very efficient something that Howard should like when thinking about pairing up with an elite guard. Look at how good he plays on both sides of the ball when Kobe is facilitating? This would be the case every game playing with Harden. He is the perfect fit for our team and I think we're the perfect fit for him.

The real question is how much better dmo and Trob will be by next yr? I think we can all agree that they both will get better but how much? Even with improvent only in the defense (dmo) an jumpshot (Trob) I don't think we need a different pf. Our big rotation would be solid and prob the best in the who league.

I'm in for dwight and keeping everyone else. We would be really really good and if a player like Klove becomes available you always have the assets (asik, dmo,Trob, and even parsons) who can be packages for a player like him to form our very own big 3.

F*** DHo. Rather go after a non-primadonna who is younger. DHo is a shell of Orlando DHo anyway

    THANK you.

A lot of posters here must be in their teens/early 20's. Guess I'm getting old, but "we'll get Dwight, we'll get Chris Paul" just doesn't seem realistic.

God bless Morey for trying, but I hope he doesn't linger on "Plan A" for very long.

Hack-a-DwightNSmoove. Worst freethrow shooting frontline in the league. This will haunt teams in crunch time and in the playoffs.

Probably wont get DHo, i would love Pau if we can't. That way were not locked in salary wise for a while, and we could prolly get him for cheap anyways.

It would be a happy free agency if we didn't get DHo. I don't want a cry baby that hasn't learned a post move in all his years in the pros.

If you go work with Hakeem and can't learn a single thing then you will never learn.

    I'll pass.

You're right, if a big guy can't learn post moves he is absolutely useless and a net negative on the court.

I am all for getting Dwight Howard. He is (unfortunately) one of the last big men stars in the NBA. Since good old Kevin Durant and LeBron James aren't going to be on the trade block or FA any time soon, we need a second superstar. I can bet that if Morey somehow lands Howard, this BBS would be celebrating and praising Howard and how that he can have the whole offseason to rehab and come back stronger. The truth is we need a big man, and the Rockets need to take that extra risk.

Not that Dwight would leave Lakers though :( damn salary cap and contract extensions.

Howard would be nice, but I won't be dissappointed if we don't get him this summer.

That article basically says nothing. So Dwight Howard respects Kobe Bryant as a basketball player? Well, duh. Kind of hard not to. Fact is, Kobe is 35 and has one or two peak-ish years left, and the Kobe/Dwight union even this year adds up to the mediocre 8/9 line. Dwight's signing for 4 or 5 years. This is about the rest of his career.

    From the same article:

Howard still wouldn't talk about his future beyond this season, saying any focus away from the task at hand is nothing more than a distraction.

Deandre Jordan is an even worse FT shooter than Dwight and Griffin is subpar, but the Clippers are contenders. The Nuggets are 28th in the league in FT% and 23rd in 3pt%, but are top five on offense. It would suck to leave so many points on the line, but with Harden's ability to draw fouls we would put opponents in foul trouble every night. And Asik, DMo, and Trob aren't shooting great percentages themselves.

Trust me, the defensive improvement would be worth it. On offense, Harden, Lin, and Parsons would be able to lob it over help defenders on their drives. If Asik didn't have stone hands and a preference for ballet moves around the rim this wouldn't be an issue, but Dwight is a much better finisher.

Dwight is a fragile player on a lower-echelon team. Reject.

I cant believe people are comparing Asik to Howard. How can someone even take that conversation seriously. Even only talking defense.

Dwight would help this team tremendously

Lin and Harden would average more assists too. It would be like having Tyson Chandler for Lin again, instead of Asik who fumbles so many passes, and isnt near the scorer d12 is

A lot of people here are, no offense intended, ignorant. I keep seeing people say he is 'fragile' and 'injury prone' as if he has had some long history of missing games due to injury.

They keep bring up his poor percentages from the line, ignoring the fact that Asik is only marginally better (49% to 55%) and Howard gets to the line significantly more often over the course of the game (9 to 4) which more than makes up for the slightly lower percentages, since in addition to the more points do to FT made, it also gets opposing players in foul trouble, which in addition to Harden can be back breaking.

People here seem to forget the hidden points we miss out due to Asik's lack of hands. We have all seen Harden/Lin/etc do a bounce pass to Asik, only for him to fumble it, resulting in at best additional time for the defense to recover and at worst a turn over.

You can say whatever you want about Howard, but you can't say he doesn't have great hands.
