The atmosphere in Houston is very relaxed. It's nothing like the media in LA where the guy got crucified for even wearing a headband. He will feel more comfortable in Houston and it will probably translate to more production on the court.

Let's not forget... the dude isn't even healthy. Wait until he's 100% again and we'll see if you guys don't want him on the team.

You would have 2- top ten players in the league

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Sanders
    Howard

You can flip some talent for a Lamarcus Aldridge/Josh Milsap/Larry Sanders

You basically would then have an opportunity to meet the Heat in the finals the next 3-5 years.

Make a SnT deal with the Hawks for Josh Smith, contingent on us getting Dwight Howard. Then tell Dwight he can either sign with Houston and be part of the new Lob City or re-sign with the Lakers and be part of the geriatric club. His teammates there are all in their mid-to-late thirties and they're struggling to make the playoffs. I'm sure he'll enjoy changing their diapers while being their fourth option on offense.

The longer the Lakers play like crap.......the better change we have at signing him.

Some of you guys just can't seem to see the forest because of all the trees. Why in the world would we want to bring a malcontent locker room cancer like Dwight Howard here? Yes he is a good player but at what cost to team chemistry? He would be demanding the ball down low all the time when he is really not that good of an offensive post player relying mainly on dunks. He is a defensive beast but so is Asik. Dwight is only going to be happy with a team that he is the first option playing an inside-out game when he is not really a good offensive player. If he is not the focal point he will whine and b**** and destroy team chemistry. Not to mention that a player who has already had back problems at his age could easily suffer a career ending injury at any time. We have just managed to come out of a time when we had major money tied up in an injured center who could not play. Is Dwight worth the risk with all the negatives he brings to thee locker room? I don't believe he is when we already have a defensive player like Asik on the team with a MUCH better contract than Dwight would EVER accept!!

I would have mostly agreed with that before this year. But watching him play with the biggest whiny b**** in the league and see him accept that role albeit not happily makes me reconsider. Yes he has a big ego but so do alot of stars. The question is can coexist on this team.

IMO he can. Harden is about winning and he has proven he will take a back seat under the right circumstances. Howard has taken a backseat to Kobe on the Lakers. On this team he won't have to as much. he will have a bigger role than on the Lakers. he won't be the only focal point but yes there will be times when we can post him up.

Yeah it would be better if he had Hakeem's persona but he is a legitimate star that is better than Asik and you have to consider signing him if the opportunity presents itself. I still think it is a major longshot.

Right off the bat LA can offer more money. All they really have to do is hand over the keys to him and game over. Let's face it Howard loves attention and no question he will get more in LA then he will ever get in Houston. Yeah harden is here but if LA becomes his team and thy dump Gasol and Kobe why can't he recruit Lebron in 2 years or some other star to rebuild LA's dynasty as opposed to the other way around. Afterall releasing Kobe under the amnesty clause saves them a lot of luxury tax money and makes room for some new additions.

Not saying that is what will happen but the Lakers have shown a propensity to do that. Lest not we forget how quickly they dumped a still gifted Shaq for Kobe. I would be surprised if they didn't pull out all the stops to apease Howard. And that makes it highly unlikely he will come here.

Just because Morey may want him doesn't actually mean our chances are any better. Afterall what in-demand free agent has Morey ever signed.

If Dwight Howard would agree to sign with the Rockets, Daryl Morey would be doing cart wheels. Asik would be dealt and we would begin preparing for a Finals run.

The Rockets should really ask Harden, if Dwight is okay being here. Dwight will be not be happy being the 2nd option again.

How big of a F YOU to Howard would it be if we finished the season ahead of the Lakers? lol

Unless D'Antoni is replaced with Big Phil, I don't see how next season could be any different for them. Of course, I'm not taking into consideration the oddly-timed lopsided trades which the Lakers seem to pull out of a hat every time they seem doomed.

No matter what we all think of Dwight Howard, he still would be Morey's main FA target this coming off-season, period.

    Him and Chris Paul

I don't think Daryl Morey would trade Asik or Lin if he signed Dwight. Asik would be the absolute best option as a back up center and those games where Dwight sat out Asik would start just like he is now. In a couple of years Greg Smith might be ready to step into the Asik role and Morey would just let the 8 million of Asik fall off the salary cap.

That's not fair to Asik. Asik is a starting center in the NBA. Morey would trade him into a situation where he would start and get 30 minutes or so a night. Also, Morey is not going to wrap up $8+ million in a backup 5 getting scrap minutes from Dwight.

To me, you can get Josh Smith with virtually no cap hit by trading Asik, Robinson, Jones, and White's expiring deal to Atlanta. So at that point you can offer Dwight a near-max contract to play with Harden and his best friend in the NBA in a state with no income tax. If he'd pick LA over that, then he really doesn't care about winning at all, so who needs him.

With Parsons, Smith, and Dwight, you'd have one of the greatest defensive front lines in NBA history, which would allow Harden, Lin, and Beverly to constantly gamble for steals. It would be a nightmare for other teams trying to score.

And for those who like Asik better than Dwight, they're in the same class for rebounding, but that's it. Dwight is a much better scorer, finisher, and shot-blocker. All of those amazing passes from Harden, Lin, and Parsons that Asik fumbles, Dwight would turn into points. He forces double-teams on the block, which Asik does not. I love Omer, but Dwight can do so many more things for you it's ridiculous to compare them.

We all know D12 is a far superior on both sides of the court than Asik
but at 27yrs he is still a manchild.
He threw his Orlando team under the
bus by basiclly saying he played with a bunch of nobodies, he mocked and
berated Kobe at the allstar weekend, he got Orlando to fire Van Gundy and
then continued to be malcontent, which in turn became the D12 soap-opera
of whether he would resign or not which eventually led to him being traded
    to the Lakers.

On paper by the numbers acquiring D12 is a nobrainer but ACTIONS speak
    louder than words/numbers
    . I not drinking the kool-aid!!

Asik will get 5 mil next season and 15 mil after that, it's plenty fair. Plus, he's a free agent in only 2 more years. As far as DM not spending 8 mil on a back up, I absolutely think he hits the salary cap for 8 mil on a back up if he thinks the Rockets are a contender which they would be. The rockets are not in any risk of getting to the luxury tax threshold next season even if they do sign D12.

Also, remember that with D12s injury history you need a quality back up.
