NPR released an article this afternoon about a website that tracks where your $1 bill goes by noting the zip code and the serial number. The website's been around for 15 years! http://www.npr.org/2013/03/24/174966382/wheres-george-the-trail-of-1-bills-across-the-u-s The website is wheresgeorge.com I think it would be cool if CF could get on this, and see where our dollar bills end up!
I remember when I found out about this site, 10 or so years ago, I thought it was mildly interesting. I internet better than thou.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kn32vavZqvg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Check that. I think the site tracks all denominations of the dollar.
I've come across a few $1 bills with the site on them. Nobody ever updated them after I submitted mine.
When I worked at the car dealership my manager was obsessed with it. He would log his bills before he went to the Ritz.
I entered a bill on this site back when it started. No clue what my login or the serial # of the dollar bill is. *sigh*
I know a cat who does something similar, but it's some other thingy. His stamp on the buck looks different. It's like a string of numbers or something. I've passed a few around for him. Guess it's a hobby.
I found a dollar stamped with the website on it. I checked it for past submissions, and someone from Michigan had posted it 2 years ago waiting for a hit. The dollar traveled 2,000 in two years!
