So how will he be handled next year? I just assumed he'd spend the season in RGV and the Rockets would just neglect to pick up his team option. But since he was apparently such a detriment to the Vipers, I don't see that happening. I guess they'll just pay him to stay home and then release him.
Not surprised. During the game I saw he never cracked a smile unless talking to a fan, looked totally uninterested during the game and was visually pissed when a teammate got the rebound he was going after. Damn shame because the kid does have some interesting talent.
I would think he would reassigned to RGV and given the chance there to play. The Rockets have to continue to give him a reasonable chance to fulfill his contractual duties. I would think they would keep him as far away from the Rockets as possible after training camp is over so his attitude and entitled nature doesn't rub others the wrong way. The Rockets are built around hardworking professionals. Royce is anything but either of those. Too bad. The kid is blowing a once in a lifetime chance that 99.99% never even have.
the question is ... how much are we gonna pay his dumb*** to settle his contract and be rid of this piece of excrement once and for all?
He needs to get off this bus, so to speak, and pursue his career as an artist and poster child. He doesn't seem the kind of person that fits well on a team unless he's the focal point, and even then from what I've experienced with people in my own life who have anxiety disorders, it may be damn near impossible for him to make a connection with people because he will always feel like an (self-induced) outsider.
Could just as easily be read No Royce is no loss for the Rockets. Using Royce's own logic, we drafted an injury prone player. Mental issues = physical issues. Royce, his agent, his college coach, and his personal doctor corroborated in hiding his "injuries" from the Rockets. #Props #PlayingInjured@ISU
Looks like Royce may still have a future in the NBA.....

Y! Finally an honest tweet from Royce White. I think this exemplifies his personal philosophy more than he knows:

Say what I think, live how I want... you don't like it, it cost you nothing to pay me no mind.#BeWell ✌❤ &
— Royce White (@Highway_30) March 22, 2013

...and now he's back after his agent read him the riot act. If he was disconnected from his teammates before, this is going to be hilarious. I can't believe the team will toss him minutes like nothing happened, especially with Jones down there tearing it up. Hopefully he can get his regular room at Staybridge Suites back.
seriously... wtf man, what is this investment on RW, and this investment is made even worse by TJ. Y isnt TJ getting his?!?!
As for the original post, I would take it with a huge grain of salt. It's just a writer stating his opinion on Royce's play, (which was inconsistent at best, and relatively lame for someone who purports to want NBA success), and then using his special powers of interpreting body language to assess that Royce doesn't get along with the Vipers other players? Um, until we know that this writer is really good at body language, it's not worth taking as meaningful, IMHO. I'm just saying a lot of posts in the GARM here are better substantiated than the monitor article. (And I am about as far as you can get from a Royce fan, mind you. Even at the time of the pick, I was b****ing about it. He's never looked like an NBA player to me, unique or no.)
He never had a game remotely close to 28 points, 13 rebounds - even that's dramatically overstated: http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/royce_white/game_by_game_stats.html
Imagine how much pain in the neck Royce would be if he's with the Rockets. He's such a disturbance and the Rockets have a great chemistry going, which is why I don't want this guy near the Rockets. The Rockets can throw him in the D-League all next year because if Royce White were to be with the Rockets, there will be some problems both on and off the court. Royce White will most likely cause tons of distraction instead of helping the team in a positive way. Royce White keeps talking about how he's a human being but the NBA is not a place to cater to anyone. The NBA is a tough competitive league where each teams want the best players they can get who will give them the best chance to win. Apparently, the NBA isn't there to give sympathy and just pays someone millions of dollars just because they have mental issues and a so-call tough life. He either needs to grow up or just find a job elsewhere because no NBA team will have time to babysit him.
This may be the worst part of the entire fiasco, at least how it impacts White. Literally thousands of young people in this country, and around the world, dream of having his opportunity. Would give almost anything to have the chance he is busy throwing away.
