Now this may be the homer in me speaking or it could be a serious knee jerk reaction to the Spurs win. This is more a thread to remind everyone what a frigging awesome team we have and just to stop the bickering. For perspective, we are currently 39 - 31. This despite a couple of things that easily accounted for a few of the losses we have. To name a few: a) the incredibly screwy schedule that contributed largely to the 7 game losing streak b) McHale being away from the team - first OKC game pretty much lost because of his family circumstances c) the roster turnover with PPat and TD gone d) some seriously ****ty bad luck in end of game situations (Monta Ellis anyone?) Its scary that despite all the above we are where we are. And if the Spurs are the best team in the league, we have: Asik = Duncan lite Jeremy Lin = Parker lite James Harden = Super Manu Ginobli on steroids Of course we have Parsons too. XD Seriously love this team! P.S. Just to elaborate the point. We just beat the Spurs and OKC recently. This despite not clearly playing at our best. Hows that for a scary thought?
This has got to be the worse thread ever... something that has been posted over and over, could have gone in one of the other hundred threads about the same concept... i thought there was a restriction for new members to create new threads... my god!
You forgot to mention the rest of the team in comparisons. DMO= Dirk lite TRob= JSmoove lite Beverley= Kenny Smith lite Greg Smith= Dwight lite And for our future superstars in the making: TJone= Odom lite Royce White= Lebron lite
I think you meant it the other way round. But defensively Asik has been a rock this season. And hey, I'm a fan. I can be delusional.
I'm gonna chalk this thread up as a tongue-in-cheek attempt at a joke by OP. Seriously, it took probably the hardest effort of Harden/Beverley/Asik and others just to pull of a one point win. Not to mention Duncan, Ginobili, and Leonard were off today. Also, Harden benefit a lot from the charity line since the refs decided to be nice to the Rockets today, since he flopped at least more than once in the Spurs' paint. This game is no bigger indication of Rocket than the OKC win, which took the very best game possible by Harden and Lin and some bonehead plays by Durant and Westbrook to pull off the win. We still have a long way to catch up to those teams, much less a dynasty.
Remmember when Stro first came, I was high as a mfer, the dynasty chant everywhere... dude now couldn't even go to china, has nothing better do but stalking woman around... if you followed any franchise through thick and thin long enough, you wouldnt go round claiming dynasty so lightly.
Um. Not really no. Don't really see the point of the negativity in your response. I see plenty of threads tearing a player down or building up a player but none on the team is general. Not positive ones at any rate. Again, its my opinion. You are welcome to yours.
I ASSUME YOU ARE COMPARING OUR GUYS TO THERE GHUYS PRIME RIGHT?If so then Asik isn't even in the same zipcode as prime Duncan, Lin and Parker isn't close as Parker is the second best PG in the league behind Paul, but I'll give you the Harden matchup as either a wash or in Hardens fave. To have a dynasty you also need a great group of role players. The Spurs had many of them over the years.
Let me fix this for you: DMo = Darko on steroid TRob = Stromile Swift on steroid Beverley = VSpan on steroid Greg Smith = Anthony Randolph on steroid TJone = Yi Jianlian on steroid Royce White = Lebron on viagra
Sheesh, I think some of you guys seriously underrate the team. And I did not say Asik = Duncan. I think of Asik as a lite version of Duncan. At least on defense. Dude works hard, rebounds like hell and basically was the player of the game tonight. I may be overrating him but who cares? I love Asik. He's been a big part of our success this season. Is Asik as good as Duncan? Of course not. Does he have the potential? Maybe, who knows? Very unlikely I grant you but I don't think its impossible. And as for Jeremy Lin = Parker lite? That came from Parker himself.
