I didn't see the game but was Lin that bad. Often I would see Beverly play more minutes than Lin the starter? I just sometimes don't understand why? Is he still considered a rookie and needs to be and learn to close unless Mchale thinks that Beverly is better than Lin. If that is the case, I would rather have Lin come in off the bench.
He facilitated alright, but had a few turnovers and was not shooting well. Beverly was doing great, so made sense to keep in the hot hand. Especially in such a close game. Perhaps in a less important game, it'd make sense to leave Lin to let him sort himself out, but you wouldn't trade a win for that.
I missed most of tonight game also, but I think Lin and Bev are complimentary to each other. Usually when one is hot and the other will be cold. I don't mind Beverley plays more than Lin as long as the team wins at the end of the day.
Lin was terrible. I wouldn't use given him an 4th quarter minutes with the wu Beverly was playing but he got the first 8 minutes and had like one turnover and went 1/3. Such is the maddening inconsistency of young players.
Mchale is an idiot. No one play changes the game. Each team gets over 80 possessions. Thought stuff like that is just what sports media folks say to entertain the masses. No one with a brain thinks one play changes a game. Asik's stopping a bucket down low is just as important as Beverly's very nice block.
You should have watched the game. If you had, you wouldn't have these questions. Perhaps you can find it on the internet. Coaches play personel differently from game to game. Beverley had a terrific game tonight. Lin was a bit off. It happens. Lin still played more minutes than Beverley. McHale was trying to win the game, and we won. No conspiracy. No hidden agenda. No "Beverley considered a rookie and needs to learn to close" considerations involved. We're trying to make the playoffs and get as high a seed as we can. McHale's moves were an attempt to win the game, and we did. Jeremy will start the next game, and the game after that, and the game after that, unless he can't walk. Relax. It's a team game and the team won. Everyone should be happy, unless they are Spurs fans, or fans of a team trying to catch the Rockets.
The truth is often annoying. One awesome win doesn't make up for poor decision making. Eventually, like gambling in Vegas against the odds, your bad decisions catch up to you.
In the 4th, Parker dropped 6 points on Lin, then 6 on Beverley. He wasn't being stopped. Bev's block however WAS a big play. If Lin was in the game at that point, that block doesn't happen imo. He was gassed. Bev had energy and hustle. So yes, that play was a game changer, even as a Lin fan I have to agree.
Bingo. Beverley came in scoring in the first half and was playing well. McHale even played Beverley and Lin together when Harden was resting, which he hasn't done much of. I'm really happy with both Beverly and Lin. For point guards as young as they are, they both show a lot of poise. Can't wait to see them in the playoffs.
I want to see Lin and Beverley playing together more in order to give Harden some good rest down the stretch. Plus, it would make our defense much better too.
As someone that was at the game, Beverley had it working tonight and Lin didn't. Patrick gave the team a huge lift with his energy in the 1st half and his 11 points helped weather a poor shooting start by the starters. Lin got subbed in the 4th because of poor decision making and getting abused by Parker. He had a horrible turnover, and then he took a long jumper off an iso for him, all while allowing parker to score 6 straight. McHale made the right move. The TEAM won, which is what matters. Winning >>>>> individual numbers.
They flowed good together when Harden was on the bench. Hope to see them share the floor more, against the shorter lineups. Alot of speed to keep up with between those two.
I only intermittently saw the 4th quarter of this game because I was too fixated on the story that is Florida Gulf Coast University. Also, I forgot that the game started at 6. What a win! Hey hikanoo49, is James Harden still not a #1 option?
You act like we shouldn't be developing Beverly. Lin gets starter minutes but Beverly earned his 4th quarter tonight. Keep talking about blackjacks and hookers though.
