David Lee is at 7, and you argue about Al Horford at 8? :p

Harden>>>Melo as a scorer and I say this as a Knicks fan. I guess it would be fitting that Melo would be favored by you considering your username "aesthetics". Ultimately, he is a far less efficient scorer, injury prone, way more ball dominant, just as bad defensively, and a terrible playmaker. There is nothing from an objective or logical standpoint that would suggest he is better.

Unless you think having the worst playoff record for an nba player in the last 10-20 years is a positive. Melo is a losing type of player. You win nothing with him as your focal point.

At no point in his career was Melo even close to a top 5 player. Maybe people who know nothing about the nba would think so. People who think raw PPG tells how good you are. This season is the closest he will get. He is bottom end top 10 or borderline. Nothing more.

Long-term, no, but right now, I think they are better. Harden is closing in though.

This. He needs the ball in his hands too often, hell the guy wanted Lin gone because he is that selfish. He can light it up but he isn't and efficient scorer.

He has been all year, he was #1 on the MVP list for a bit he is easily a top 5 player this year.

That's all this is... a bunch of people with no credentials giving their opinion on top 5. The fact is a considerable amount of people still put Melo in their top 5, and that guy was trying to say no one does and use it as some argument against Harden being top 5. if Melo can be considered top 5, then so can Harden.

Morey didn't just hit a home run with this trade...

He hit multiple grand slams. A trade for a superstar at 23 who hasn't even reached his true prime is just unheard of.

James Harden is the real deal! Easily top 5 best players in the league. We got ourselves a SuperStar and he is just 23 years old@@!! What a steal!

The problem with Harden is he has a lower ceiling than Lebron and Durant because he's not a physical freak. He clearly has his limitations being that he's not long, athletic, or outstandingly strong or physically unique for his position.

He's just really intelligent and knows how to maximise his game. If his rip through drive doesn't get called he starts to struggle a bit, but he's the most complete offensive player in the game outside of Lebron and Wade.

Yes I'm glad Harden plays for the Rockets, good to know we've got a top 5 player in the game on the roster.

    #1 Lebron

    #2 Durant

Harden, Parker, Wade, Kobe, Chris Paul, Carmelo are all in the same tier.

Charles_zed I hate to be mean but your an idiot, harden is abosultly strong and has almost a 7 ft wingspan, that's super long for his position. Plus he's def an elite athlete I don't know what player you have been watching but it's not james harden.

At 6'5 with a 6'11 wingspan and weighting almost 230 he's absolutly a freak for his position. Your not gonna find any sgs bigger than him in the NBA. He has no limitations on offense he's 23 he hasn't hit his prime yet nobody can stop what he wants to do on the court. Ill take that's and yes iv been saying it for a while he's #3 in the NBA and closing on Durant no homer either. If you want to put Chris Paul at 3 I'm
Not gonna argue with you cause he's the best pg and means so much to his team but pgs don't win chips and as long as he's your best player ur not winning a chip. Elite wing players win championships nowadays lebron Kobe Paul pierce. We have ours in James harden as we should be thankful it's rare to have a player like him ever play for your team and we got him at 23. Clutchfans the next decade should be extreamly fun.

Harden is built like a tank for a combo-guard which is fantastic, and no doubt a key reason why he's so effective at driving into the lane, drawing contact and finishing.

But he's not a freak specimen like Lebron, Durant, Shaq or even McGrady was. He can be guarded by SFs as well as bigger SGs and isn't always an obvious mismatch.

He's fantastic because he's an offensively complete player, but let's not pretend his physical gifts are comparable to those guys.

I'm a huge Harden fan now as well, it's just the truth. He's a top player in the league, and I'm stoked, but it's ridiculous to call me an idiot because I don't believe he's got the same potential as Lebron or Durant.

    Dear charles_zed,

Harden leads the league in free throw attempts. This is because nobody can guard him, and so they are forced to foul him to prevent a neverending stream of layups.

    That is all.
