The Rox have games left against Spurs, Clippers, Nuggets, and Grizzlies, all the teams they could potentially meet in playoffs. I really want to see how they look against them. Current, post-trade Rox have not played any of these teams so it will be interesting to see how they match up.
This is all bad, any way you slice it. with OKC, the only wild card would be if Westbrook had a meltdown, but i don't see any players in Houston who can ruffle his feathers. if we get Denver, they'll sick Iguodala on Harden and wear him down. they can afford to have Iguodala zone in on Harden because of all that high quality depth. Memphis or Clippers would be ideal.
Idk what you guys are on about. I would wanna face: 1) Memphis 2) Clippers 3) Nuggets 4) Spurs 5) Thunder In that order. To be fair SA or OKC's order doesn't matter. We'd get swept by both in blowout games. We match up well with Memphis and actually have a shot to beat them. Clippers we could win 2-3 games and perhaps in an upset we could beat them. Denver we do not match up well with and the best case scenario is we win two games against them. But more realistically, the Nuggets winning 4-2 or even 4-1 is what i'd expect.
what's the point of having a "go-to guy" if you aren't even close in the game to have him finish it? Denver would run us out of the gym.
i honestly don't think McHale believes that our team can get that hot from behind the arc for 4 games in a playoff series. This is going to be unpredictable, hopefully Harden has an extra gear that he developed from his playoffs experience in OKC.
Rockets will lose to any team they face in the Playoffs though. That's why I want to play the team that is going to lead to the most exciting games. So I'd rather have us play Denver because those games will be entertaining even though we will lose. OKC would probably just blow us out.
Im ready for any matchup. This team is capable of beating anyone in a 7 game series if our shots are falling... other than Miami...
i'd rather play the clippers, who have one of the worst 3 point defenses in the league. With Memphis, at least Asik can body up on Marc and neutralize him a bit.
Yeah we should all watch those games very closely. I know both coaching staffs will. They might be able to give us a preview of what the playoffs would like like. That having been said, it still looks like the 7 and OKC for us. All the same the playoffs for this team in its first year together is just ridiculous. Season's already a big W in my book.
Our new possible playoff matchup Sorry Clutch, if you want to merge this thread with the other one about who we want to face in the playoffs, please do. I only created a new one because the Nuggets were never a real consideration during those discussions. -- We have been talking alot about Spurs, Thunder, Clippers and Grizzlies as our playoff matchups, and who would you prefer to play. With Denver taking 3rd seed and on their current 15 game win streak, they enter the fray for discussion. It also seems less likely every day that we will match up with the Griz in the first round, which sicks since I see them as the most preferred match up. So where does Denver sit on our preferred list? Of course they don't have the star power of SA and OKC, however they are the ones on the 2nd longest active streak in the NBA. They are playing great ball at the moment and Ty Lawson has come out of the slump he was in, the first few months of the season. It would be a strange match up because they play similar ball to us. Fast paced for a playoff series I would assume. As far as I can see, we don't match up well because our strength i against slower big man teams like Memphis for example. Omer is a great paint protector, but who would guard Lawson, Iggy, W Chandler and A Miller? Beverley has proven a great defensive stopper, and Chandler has some great size, but we take joy in outrunning our opponents. Nuggets should easily keep up. Also, would Iggy contain Harden, or would the beard simply foul him out? I haven't kept tabs on the reg season match up between them however I remember a Rockets loss to Denver earlier this year. What are your insights?
winning 4 games from 7 with 4 at mile high against a highly athletic team (our biggest weakness) won't end well.
SAS has a schedule from hell coming up. Denver, clippers then Miami and Memphis back to back. They could easily fall to 2. GSW have 7 of their next 8 games at home. Its kinda looking like we will be playing the Spurs if we stayed 7th.
Denver is a terrible match for us. They are the one team in the league that can outrun us. We'll keep it close for the first 3 quarters, but then Lin & Asik will be gassed and the game will slip away in the 4th as everyone screams asking why Lin & Asik are benched. It's even worse because of the altitude. I think the teams we are most likely to steal a series from, in order from most to least likely, is this: Grizzlies Spurs Clippers Nuggets Thunder With Grizzlies being the one that is only moderately feasible; the others are all remote possibilities.
Funniest thing if Nuggets would pass Thunder for 2nd place in conference lol Also rather play Clipper or Grizzlies.
Don't know if this is good. SAS has had our number all season, but we suddenly came out with a great defensive performance against them grinded out the win. The question is, is this new-found defense just a one off fluke, or can we sustain this tenacious D for the rest of the season nd provide defensive momentum into the playoffs? I don't think so but the potential is there.
Could we beat Denver in a playoff matchup? I've seen lots of talks about playing Memphis, OKC, and the Clippers in the playoffs but the most likely team we play right now is the Nuggets in my opinion. Do yall think we could beat them in a playoff series and why?
