I just talked with a guy in the Chronicle Sports department. His take is the these deals don't get done until the last minute (like September) and he expected it to be carried on DirecTV just like FSH was. Still, we'll just wait and see.
O.K. One more post. I just checked my web mail and had gotten a reply from the Rockets person -- had been out of pocket. It is expected that the new channel will be available in all outlets that FSH had been. Between this source and the Chronicle sportsperson assessment, I feel confident that the Rockets will be available as part of the DirecTV regional sports networks.
I had DirecTV for 8 years, and just recently switched to Dish. I always thought it was crap, but I love it. Their On Demand is awesome. I have the new Hopper receiver, and it's pretty damn cool.
I've had all 3 at some point and I feel it's all pretty much the same. Just go with cheapest one, which to me would be directv with free sunday ticket.
I have been trying the OTA method for about 3 months now. I think I'm about to go back to Directv. It's been interesting, and certainly doable, but I find a dvr too convenient. I just built a new PC a year ago, and don't really want to spend to build a htpc right now. If anyone wants to do the referral thing to get some money off our bills, let me know.
Ask and you shall receive: Account number: 46789557 http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/referral/referralProgram.jsp (Use link on Internet Explorer) Don't forget to send in the rebate before your service is installed. It's easy, just click on the links in the email.
Sunday Ticket is seriously overrated when you have the NFL RedZone channel (a.k.a The Greatest Channel Ever Created In The History of Television Broadcasting). I went Dish because DirecTV would not offer me Fox Soccer without requiring me to sign up for their premier package (which would, of course, blow up my monthly bills later).
bump. Moving pretty soon. Verizon Fios Internet is available (major upgrade from CommunistCast) but Verizon Fios TV is not. I want either DirecTV or Dish but not sure which to get. Hoping for some input from you guys
You received opinions/responses in your thread from yesterday.... Mostly everyone said Uverse or DirecTV and that Dish network doesn't have great HD quality
Go with Directv. The new genie receiver is the best thing on the market. Use a referral from someone here on the board. (I can give you one) and save them and yourself $10 a month extra off your bill.
This. Genie is awesome. Plus, since he mentioned he has Comcast internet, he should have no problem streaming HD 1080p (yes, that's P) content from the On-Demand library. Plus, with DirecTV, if you have your receivers connected to the internet you can use your phone as a remote. At least on my Android I can with a third party application. I think Comcast has this too but it sucks.
