Many posters should be eating crow in this thread and this board in general. Clearly Lin's struggles was mainly a coaching issue.
Not sure what you mean. Now that Lin is being used correctly, we are seeing that he is not as horrible as many of the fans on this board have been saying. I could pull up quotes from this very thread to that effect. Posters here are very quick to tear down their own players.
There isn't just one factor why Lin struggled. New team/enviornment; coming off knee injury; coaching decisions; not aggressive, trying to fit in in the team concept; Harden shows up 3 days before season starts.
At the time of this thread, 10 games into the season, these were Jeremy's numbers: 10 games 10.3 PPG 34.3% FG 25.8% 3PT 1,000 CFers on suicide watch Since then: 58 games 13.7 PPG 46.3% FG 35.1% 3PT In the last 30 games: 14.6 PPG 47.2% FG 41.6% 3PT DAT SAMPLE.
Last 30 game LPoints per 36 min is Lin 16.9 Dragic 14.9 Lowry 13.2 Granted. point isn't the whole picture as pace / role / other aspect of the game all matter, but it's pretty safe to say that the whole Jeremy Lin has nothing on Dragic / Lowry crowd should admit they're idiots.
42% from 3 over a 30-game period is very impressive. Props to Lin for continuing to work on that shooting.
3 is the least i am interested in. if 3 comes to lin, i am fine with him shooting it but his main job is not at 3. even he eventually get his 3pt % up to reliable level. i would still want him to attack. attacking, attacking, and attacking is what we brought him here. his attacking will open up for others.
If he can't hit the 3, then defenders will pack the paint and make it impossible for him to attack-attack-attack. The more he solidifies his long range attack, the better it makes his ability to drive to the basket. And the more he solidifies his ability to take it to the rim, the more open he will be at the 3-point line. Pick your poison. But that only works if you can do both well, which is why Harden and Lin are such a powerful combination, and it's exciting to realize they still have plenty of room for improvement.
3-point shooting and rim attacking are both important in our offense. The more players we have than can do both, the better.
Lin is playing much better lately. I think the knee has been the big issue with Lin. Next season is going to be a good time to be a Rockets fan. I do wonder if people will complain about Lin being played too much next season and that McHale is wearing him out. It is going to be very hard for McHale to keep Harden and Lin off the court next season.
Do you have updated numbers on the CFs on suicide watch? I'd love to see how that data trends as we come down to the end of the season and (knock-wood) enter the playoffs.
they need to find a way to run screen n rolls for his midrange game. The rocket's offensive philosophy is a bit inept.
This is the third year in a row where our PG plays well post-ASG. First Lowry, then Dragic, and now Lin. Someday, they'll be good from the start.
