he is just giving his opinion. chill I thought punting was the least of our problems last year, but we didn't really pin many teams inside the 10 last year.
He is an upgrade, plus he will make our ST a lot better. All we need is a Return guy and we will be in business.Damn sure cant get any worse than last year.
Last year was one of our better punting years and Jones actually had a better year than Lechler. Lechler would be nice, but I'm fine with bringing Jones back if it saves money.
John McClain @McClain_on_NFL I expect Lechler to sign with Texans if he checks out physically. They wanted him last time his contract was up.
Good to hear. I know DJones was good last year, but I don't want to count on him being that guy again. A lot of punters and kickers vary wildly year to year. Better to get the best when you can get them. I'm also very intrigued by the idea that Lechler might be able to kick off. Hope they explore that possibility if they aren't planning to sign a kicker and hope to use Bullock next year. We need a guy that can get the ball deep so teams don't return on us as much.
You didn't make sense the first time. And you're still not making sense the 2nd time. Stop trying to look too deep into things, it's a move to imporve our punter. That's pretty much it.
i know it's been overstated, but why would we (if we do) pay more for lechler? donnie jones did just fine; other needs on ST have to be met (Marciano, PR, KR). If signing Reed to a large contract affects the signings we have to make next year, then I would suggest sticking with just Jones as our P.
Lechler is more proven! Kickers n punters you never know but Lechler been one of the best his whole career. So i wouldn't mind letting the other guy go.
He went to TAMU - normal. He's the best at his position - normal. He went to TAMU, is the best at his position AND is a battle fighter? Unprecedented.
Oh, McClain is reporting this? Then let me be the first to offer my condolences to the Texans for missing out on Lechler. Sincerely hoping that Lechler + Bullock > Jones + Graham
He was a legit high school QB. During warmups he throws beautiful 40 yard spirals to teammates. I bet he can air it out farther than Schaubby.
Every year there are some kickers that have fluke seasons that are very good. Based on track record I would not count on Jones being as good this season. However Lechler has a long track record and it is very likely he does well this season. The difference is salary will not be much. We are stuck without a #2 receiver and a quarterback that will not win us games by himself, it is important that we solidify areas that we can and special teams is a huge area. As far as PR/KR we can either get one in the draft, let Manning do it in key games or scour the waiver wire. Honestly, they are not that hard to find. If our defense is as good as it can be, and we have special teams that perform well, we can over come our lack or receivers and QB play.... especially if we run the ball better this season.
