While he's regressed, to be fair, the Wizards team is cancerous and not conducive to player development. The Wizards really needed him back, since they were playing Combo Guards and Shooting Guards at the 1, so it's very likely he'll get the max from them when he's their only true Point Guard.
If he can develop a good 3pt shot sure why not. Right now it still seems like he's too immature to lead a team to the play offs but that's probably 50/50 on the team and the players.
Depends on how well he plays next season. I figure he has one more year to take the next step forward, and if he doesn't, then his RFA contract is going to take a definite hit.
Doubtful. If he's healthy, he's getting the max. He historically can't shoot a lick (it's really awful) and I'm not sure I think you can win the conference if John Wall is one of your two best players. But he is only 22 and his play recently (small sample size) shows a guy going for 20/7.7/4 with a 2:1 AST/TO ratio and a good FG%. That's CLOSE to max money for a point guard and if he keeps it up and/or develops it will be well worth it.
The Wizards are expected to offer John Wall a maximum contract extension, sources told CSN Washington. http://www.csnwashington.com/basketball-washington-wizards/talk/signs-point-wall-becoming-max-player
It doesn't matter if he is worth it, he is going to get it. If not from the Wizards from someone else. http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/4237/john-wall Stats seem to be going up (less minutes, so just talking PER basis). His health/injury history worry me more than him getting better. I think he'll be a better max contract than Joe Johnson, but he is still one of those fringe stars getting a max because a franchise is forced into it. (Ala Rudy Gay)
47 points, 8 assists, 7 rebs, and only 2 turnovers while handling the ball the entire game as Wiz beat the Griz by 13 pts without Nene, Ariza, Martell Webster, AJ Price, and Bradley Beal. He would have had 15 assists if the guys on his team could hit open jumpers. He's easily going to get the max.
The Wizards have been one of the top teams in the east(21-16 record) since Wall's return. They went from 5-28 to 26-44...that's ridiculous. With that winning % (57%), they would've been fighting for HCA. And they're not just winning versus scrubs either...Wins over Atlanta, Denver x2, Chicago, LAC, NY, Brooklyn, Houston, and Lakers...and now Memphis. They're not elite by any means but they're a decent team. Is Wall going to get the max? Yes... Is he worth it? Doesn't matter...he's still gonna get it. Side note - Great future for the Wizards. Wall's injury was a gift as they're going to get another lottery pick. Wall + Beal + pick means there's a lot of potential in this team.
If John Wall continues to play like this, he is definitely worth the max, else he will get what Jennings is going to be paid, which is the max anyway.
I don't think we've seen the best of Wall yet. But, eh, I'm glad Houston won't have to make that decision. The talent is certainly there, but he hasn't shown any consistency.
