The greatest team with, the best coach in the last decade IMO. Boring ass style, but the fundamentals, and the coaching is why this team is always been Top 5.
The main reason the Rox passed on Leonard in favor of Morris was because Leonard projected as a defensive specialist, he didn't have a good scoring ability in college and people were pointing to the fact that he had huge ass hand as the reason why jumper was broken. So if you thought Leonard would become solid offensively then you're probably the only one, and I guarantee you he won't develop his offensive game if he didn't play for sucha good coach.
Since Parker's been out, Duncan is averaging 21.1 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.9 bpg, 61% TS% in just 31.3 mpg. Basically, vintage Duncan, except he's 36 years old.
The Mavs are finally gonna miss the playoffs after making them for 12 straight seasons. This will be the 16th straight year the Spurs make the playoffs. Before that season they made it 7 times in a row. Most of the times they make the playoffs they finish first or second in the NBA. Since 1967 they have only missed the playoffs 5 times. Next season: Duncan will be 37 Manu will be 36 Parker will be 31 Will they finally be too old next year? Can the Rockets be first in their division?
doesnt matter. Leonard, Splitter, and De Colo (jk on the frenchie) will keep this team going strong. Probably be able to snag a couple of knuckleheads and make them beast mode.
Those guys will keep them mediocre if age finally takes a toll on the Spurs top three players (especially Duncan). The great thing is they can't tank their way back to the top to get a player like Duncan and hit another 16 straight years of making the playoffs.
I think they will do just that for the 2014 draft if they get a chance (early Duncan injury or retirement).
That stat is absolutely obscene. In close to 50 years of basketball, they have seriously only missed the playoffs FIVE times?? That is complete and absolute domination, and an incredible testament to ownership, management, and flat out good luck.
I am happy San Antonio is in our division because it would motivate Rockets to play hard and learn how to play consistency.
And just think. The San Antonio fans would trade the Spurs for an NFL team in a second. They still are the least knowledge basketball fans in the NBA, and could really care less.
The cowboys are more popular than the spurs over there. They have pretty bad fans, but I think they are at least a little better than rockets fans, of course them winning so much might be the main reason.
Man we've been saying they're are too old for the past 4 seasons. These guys will be 1st seed playing fundamental basketball as grandpas. In 5 years Duncan will be the real life Uncle Drew.
