man, i hope next year we'll have enough money to keep our other stars.. hope this doesn't turn into a problem..
Pete Prisco @PriscoCBS Texans lose Glover Quin and sign Ed Reed. That's a big step down. There, I said it. Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Texans owner Bob McNair told me on Reed: "We play all of the top QBs. We needed a free safety back there that had outstanding ball skills."
FACT OF THE DAY We lose our top three free agents (no pro bowl appearances outta any) sign a hall of fame safety and resign our nickel corner both to cheap deals #I'MRICKSMITHBITCH
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet More from Texans owner Bob McNair on Ed Reed: "I think he’ll offer some great leadership. … That’s extremely important.”
Ah Pete... always trolling as usual. I could accept him saying a step down, but "a big step down"? lol.
Yes, Ed will battlefight. Wade Phillips @sonofbum @TwentyER -hope the rumors are true! Would love working with U. #hurricanepower
yep, I don't believe a step down, but I could accept that... can't accept what he wrote. And I'm really hoping people are calling last year a down year, but ignoring the torn labrum. Between getting healthy and wanting to prove BAL wrong, he could have a sick year
For cheap? Are the numbers out? What I'm hearing on the radio is guesstimates of 6-7 million which is close to what he is asking for. Happy we signed him, worried for how much.
My concerns over the process aside, I do love having Reed here because of off-script plays. On both sides of the ball, that's something the Texans really lack. Quin might be a half-step quicker than Reed on a few breaks -- I don't know. But Glover dropped several potential game-changing picks last year, the likes of which you probably need against Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in a big spot. Ed Reed wouldn't drop them. I still have a lot of concerns about the direction the franchise is going, but Reed is the type of player that has the upside on a given day to make a game-deciding play and mask many other flaws. Quin wasn't that guy.
I'd like to see the number of times the ball was thrown on the side of each safety. I believe ed reed also had about 100 less snap counts than glover.
