The end

LM: #Bears unable to reach agreement with Brian Urlacher for 2013; both sides will move forward.
— Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) March 20, 2013
“"We were unable to reach an agreement with Brian and both sides have decided to move forward,” Bears General Manager Phil Emery said. “Brian has been an elite player in our league for over a decade. He showed great leadership and helped develop a winning culture over his time with the Bears. We appreciate all he has given our team, on and off the field. Brian will always be welcome as a member of the Bears.” “Over the last 13 years Brian Urlacher has been an outstanding player, teammate, leader and face of our franchise,” Chicago Bears Chairman George McCaskey said. “As Bears fans, we have been lucky to have such a humble superstar represent our city. He embodies the same characteristics displayed by the Bears all-time greats who played before him and he will eventually join many of them in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We thank Brian for all he has given our team and our city. He will always be a part of the Bears family. We wish him the very best.”
Wow, that's pretty horrid. Story being spun is that they made him a fair offer and he refused, at least in the Suns Time piece I just read.
I should clarify, that take-it-or-leave-it offer according to Brian himself. I guess possibly a he said-he said case. Bears: We made a fair offer. Brian: 2 million take it or leave it. Either way, it sucks and unfortunate they didn't/couldn't work something out.
A real shame, last thing I wanted was his last image as a Bear to be pulling his hamstring in that horrible Seahawks game.
Bears are gonna get ripped(and probably rightfully so). Not that they care. John Clayton @ClaytonESPN I know veteran icons on teams are finding it tough but a $2 million offer for Brian Urlacher is sad. It would have been better with no offer ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk Bears offered Urlacher the chance to make $2 million, which may be more insulting than no offer at all http://wp.me/p14QSB-7Kkv
Really crappy approach by Emery, total slap in the face. Brian said he would have been willing to play for 3.5 mil if they'd continued talking but the Bears management put the 2 mil offer and wouldn't even talk after the fact.

Why? He isn't a good player anymore. He is terrible in pass coverage and in the NFL now teams thrown as much on first down as they run. He is no longer an NFL calibur linebacker.
Sorry, I've watched every game the last few years and while he wasn't what he was, he still plenty left in the tank, at least enough for 2 years to close out his career. He was hardly a liability.
Agree. My wife is a Bears fan so I see more than my share of Bears games and Urlacher still has some moves. More than that he's a vocal leader and a great glue player. All of that said, this move is par for the course for da Bears management.
I live in Chicago, have had to watch every one of their games and I don't see it, he was bad last year.
I believe they've lost the following: Starting WR Starting FS Starting SS Starting MLB (Ray Lewis) Starting OLB (sack leader) Starting CB Starting LT Starting MLB (Ellerbee)
