Bumping this to ask about the state inspection classes. I have a friend who's interested, but said they didn't give him much info on the length of class/days. It's an 8 hour course, i believe.

For those of you who have taken it, about how long did it normally last and was it just over one day?

    thanks, in advance.

It's not even related. You're asking to be the inspector, thread is about getting the car inspected. ;)

I think this is probably the first time I do a "thread police" comment and actually recommend starting a new thread. :p

I just needed a thread that could attract state inspectors to it and this one did it before. :p

^^ that's a safety only inspection...usually diesel or an older vehicle

I'll defer to dallasthomas, but I could swear I've had a car pass with a check engine light on. It may have been check brake light, though.

Otherwise, try some black electrical tape...

EDIT: didn't realize this ws a necrobump. Doh.

Mine comes on if the tire pressure is 2psi above or below what it should be. Try that.

    Inspection. 2004 F150 ....not diesel.

I don't have to do the emissions test....so it's cheap.

    The check engine light?

Pretty sure that should be your tire pressure light...

Almost always an emmissions problem with a check engine light. Though my truck used to always have it on. You'd get it fixed, and it would be back on. Actually got somebody I knew try and check the code, but a code would never register. I was convinced it was a conspiracy.

I'm also convinced the Honda dealership just reset my sensor to avoid paying out on my Catalytic Convernter failing before the Federal Warranty was up.

I've had my check engine light come on right when I was going to get the inspection. Quick stop to Autozone and they said it was a random misfire. Simple solution for it is to disconnect the battery and the check engine light will reset. If there is a ongoing issue the light will turn back on after few miles driving.
