The more time goes by...the more dumbfounded I am about many poster's lack of overall basketball knowledge and resistance to increase their knowledge outside of the eye test and recent box scores. Especially after this Patterson trade.
Yah, if you put a bunch of high IQ players (or players who trained with high IQ ones) into a bunch of low IQ fuktards, those high IQ ones are gona seem so smart and useful. Vice versa for TRob.
if the trade was balanced when it happened they SAC wouldnt have done it. its all about POTENTIAL for us. all the other players we gave were expiring, we werent gonna sign them anyways. r****ds
Rockets will miss this guy in the playoffs. Now the Rockets don't have a third guard who can make big shots off the bench. Thanks a lot, Morey.
People talk about the Jeremy Lin shackles, but it never occurred to them that maybe some shackles were on Toney Douglas. This guy was once the ACC leading scorer during the regular season (21.5) and the NCAA tournament (26.7). Best Div. 1 conference in the nation.
Agree. The same people that were screaming "Free D-Mo" are the same people regretting this trade, and they are the same people that were crucifying Pat all season for not rebounding. We knew Pat's ceiling and it wouldn't have been enough. I'm OK with D-Mo starting over Pat. Give T-Rob a chance, he's still a rookie and just joined a new team. Patience people, you shouldn't be surprised that 2 NBA vets are playing better than a rookie. Also, you guys are acting like if we had those 2 instead of T-Rob we'd be a 4th seed. We'd be in the same position we are now, battling for the 6th seed.
Wow.. TD get highlight reel... Despite his headless chicken runs, I always like him as a player.. he was always confident, even when things went wrong.. but humble.. I'm glad that the Kings are happy with him.. I'm gonna dl the whole game to watch.. ...
You're completely right and that's exactly why the trade was so infuriatingly stupid. DMo couldn't earn playing time because he didn't do the team oriented things that we need from our players to be a winning team. We got rid of 4 of our 9 rotation players in order to play the inferior player at PF. If he wasn't the inferior player, then start him. Didn't need to gut the team. Just shows that the front office doesn't value team basketball. Shows Morey either doesn't understand the kind of contributions people like Patterson and Douglass make, or doesn't value them. But mostly, Morey makes trades out of a sense of identity. He loves the rush, he loves the media attention, he loves how his fans gush at everything he does and make him feel like a rock-star. It is never about improving the team. It's about current publicity for Morey and future flexibility for Morey so he can make more trades and get more publicity and have people gush about how smart he is and he can feel the rush of wheeling and dealing, even though he always has to pay a million dollar premium just to get other GM's to trade with him because he's always in interviews afterwards smirking about how stupid they were while their teams get better and ours spiral out of the playoff picture. He's always sacrificing the team for his own ego. Always.
Nice to see him do well! I'd still do that trade because Beverley was doing well but ever since the trade has fallen off big time - rookie wall? We still have Brooks though and in my opinion should get more minutes so he can become the main backup in the playoffs. We cannot wait for Beverley to just turn it around, gradually reduce his minutes until he starts producing again.
That 'ego' and value flipping mentality netted us Harden. With or without Ppatt, we aren't winning it all this year. It was never about this year, even with the aquisition of Harden. Try to see the bigger picture. Damned if you do, damned if you dont.
I agree with some of your anger toward Morey, but I also understand where Morey is coming from. Morey doesnt just want to win a few playoff games this year, he wants to win a championship in a couple of years. PPat and Douglas are good bench players. They have little chance of becoming stars nor be a factor in a championship team. You look at all the top teams in this league, just about every team has a better PF. You can find plenty of Douglas's and PPat's in the league or in Europe. We all know how difficulty it is to draft, sign, or trade a top PF in this league. Teams don't usually trade star PF's like (prime) Gasol, KG, Duncan, Ibaka, Griffin, Davis. Easier way is to develope one. We stockpiled PF's for the last couple of years, and so far, no one has come close sniffing the star status. Now that we have a young core, time is slowing running out on a missing PF, and everyone is getting impatient. DMo can become the missing piece. What Morey envisions in DMo is Gasol. A skilled seven-footer with post moves absolutely requires a double team down low. Even if we do get a stud PF through FA, DMo is certainly tall enough to play the 5, just like Gasol. No one knows how DMo will turn out in a couple of years but he certainly has the most potential to become a star.
Toney Douglas was intense on defense and was a streak 3 pt shooter. Those are things Bev can replace. We all knew eventually Douglas would be included in a trade so I don't mind him being gone.
I feel like I'm being brainwashed in everything on CF by Carl that the trade was bad. I cannot escape it
