Conley is not a star and neither is Lin. Conley is in the pretty good category of PGs. Nothing special but pretty good and solid. He is terribly meh on the offensive end so I have no clue where you got way above average from. Medium volume mildly efficient scorer who is decent at playmaking but nothing special. His strength is his defense imo and his pretty good decision making which results in lack of TOs but he is not much of a scorer or playmaker.

Good statement to cap it off, but the article highlights the way emotions cloud people's judgments and lead them to make ridiculous accusations.

Truth be told I had a hard time finishing it, it was painful to read. Quite possibly one of the worst pieces of journalism I have ever read.

Clutch, you won. I fell for your trap game.

You created this thread, deliberately posting an article by an author from the media CultureMap, both you think very lowly of. "A horribly researched piece...almost everything in it is wrong," as you say later. You bolded and enlarged the font size at least five times of the words "left with 16 shots" to direct attention to that particular point the author made. And to be fair, you did say "Apologize in advance for taking the troll bait" in your first sentence. So I wouldn't call this a totally unfair game. I just regret that I still fell for it even seeing that flashing warning up front.

I vaguely felt that you were up to something when I first saw those unusual things as described above.

And I even had the hunch something's gonna happen if I say something about the article, and lol it did.

I was holding myself back until I saw someone said on Page 6 that "Don't know wtf the article is trying to accomplish by saying 16 shots isn't enough. He's a freaking pg."

I knew the theme of the article is about McHale's trust and belief on Lin, but I also felt that Chris Baldwin the Author was not totally wrong when he said "He is the only one among this little big three who would be left with just 16 shots on a night when he is the one player firing at anything close to a 50 percent rate." Lin did shoot 9/16 with 3/5 from beyond the arc. So I should be safe to say that "I actually think the author is right when he says 16 shots isn't enough, FOR LAST NIGHT. Or do we NOT want him to score more than 21 points last night?" right? Wrong! And I was openly ridiculed for saying that.

What was really wrong though was that I trusted that by posting such a garbage piece you just wanted to invite opinions from both sides about the content of the article. But by your going to the extent of openly saying you are laughing at me after I posted that comment, *I realize now that inviting opinions from both sides was not your true intention. That bolded and enlarged 16 points phrase was indeed a bait and I took it. *I feel totally disillusioned about the neutrality of you and this forum. It's clever of you to apologize in advance so you may feel legitimately you can laugh now.*

From my previous conversation with you in another thread, I knew I would rub you the wrong way when I said in an earlier post in this thread that "I hope articles by outsiders like this will start bringing more attention to beyond the coaching staff level, so the coaches will feel more pressure to re-evaluate the situations and got out of their box and inertia which has been so obvious to us fans except themselves. If we miss the playoffs and waste the previous efforts this season, the coaches would have no one to blame but themselves. Time is of the essence now."

In that post I did NOT say anything about the author's point of view but just expressed a general feeling that with all the unnecessary losses, a change is very much needed since both the Lakers and Jazz are still breathing down our neck.

I learned earlier that your are a diehard McHale defender when to my surprise you challenged me some time ago, by asking me to let you, and of course everyone, know my conclusion about McHale after I had to say to you that I have never said I want McHale fired, just to clarify my position. I strongly felt at that moment that you seemed to want to put a label on me while I try hard to stay neutral. I don't know how many people you have asked in public to let you know when they have a conclusion on McHale. Now fyi, I still haven't reached a conclusion yet, and probably never will, since I truly believe the whole universe changes every second while I have seen McHale made some improvement on a few things but still lagging on others since then. But no matter what, as I said to you, I would always give McHale the benefit of the doubt.

Thank you Clutch for teaching me a lesson--Don't expect every game to be fair. But no big deal. It's just a game. Even a questionable one with you as both the referee and the player.

While you are laughing, so am I.

(I may get some heat from old-timers for saying this, but I'm saying it anyway...)

I didn't read all the posts between you two (and obviously have no idea what's going on) but I have to admit I was shocked to see Clutch, the forum admin, openly stated that he's been laughing at a user for some time now. I have the greatest respect for Clutch, but do have to say I've never seen the admin of any forum I've visited do that. EVER.

Let's not pile on the guy.
We're not kids and we don't have to stand in a circle and point and laugh because other people are doing it.

If you strongly don't agree with his opinions, you can provide a counterpoint or ask him to explain or prove his points. Or ignore him.

    Perhaps. I admitted I didn't read his posts, so I wouldn't know.

The point is, I have never seen a forum admin do that. EVER.

It's like everyone likely cusses, but few do it in front of their young children. It just doesn't seem appropriate no matter how justified the situation is.

    Great points.

    Well said.

    Seconded.

    Great observation.

    Totally agree.

    Amazing.

    Almost Lin like.

Up there along with Martin Luther King and Lincoln.

This is how i feel when I read some of the posts by you guys, who only express negativity in the Garm when Lin struggles in his first full season.

Patience can be had for conley after five seasons, but some of you guys can't wait ONE season to see how lin evolves?

And to suggest that one doesn't like a player because of his fans, that's just as ridiculous.

    Agreed.

Heck, some of the opinions from some supposedly rational and veteran posters of CF were shocking, to say the least. But I guess it is human nature to have some sort of bias and selective knee jerk reactions.
