A win over the Jazz tomorrow will put us 4 games ahead of them given that we'll own the series tie breaker and with only 14 games left to be played by both teams by then, it's almost a lock that we'd make the playoffs.

I don't see how they would be able to make up 4 games on us to finish the season considering the fact that their remaining schedule is even tougher than ours.

This would be awesome. I hate helping the Lakers solidify their spot though. Oh well, Rockets come first! Handle business!

Could care less about the Lakers. Although we'd be facing them with our last game of the season and if that game does become relevant, i think it could possibly be a battle for the right to the 7th seed rather than it being a knockout game because the Jazz will be 9th or 10th.

we're not getting the 6th seed. Golden State's schedule gets a lot easier, and ours gets harder. Even if we are both equally inconsistent, they will win more simply because their schedule is lighter.

At this point I don't see how you could complain about getting the 7th or 8th seed though. This team really hasn't been playing that well, and I suspect we will lose more games we are favored in down the road.

Hopefully we win some where the opponent is favored, but I'm not optimistic.

Yep. The main thing for this season is for our guys to gain some playoff experience. We are on year one of rebuilding and still far to being contenders yet, so getting into the playoffs by itself is a huge win for this franchise at this early stage into our rebuilding.

Honestly, i don't even see any team in the league being even close to beating the Heat 4 times out of 7 this season.

We were 21-14 (.600 W%) before the 7-game losing streak.

We're 16-10 (.615 W%) since the 7-game losing streak.

Expected W/L has us at 41-27 (.603 W%).

I have us going 8-6 to close the season. Which would put us at 12-8 (.600 W%) over the last 20 games if I'm right.

I don't what to conclude from this, other than that the losing streak was kind of a fluke and symmetry is fun.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but the Warriors' schedule is very easy. Only 12 games remaining and I believe 9 of them are at home. Plus the opponents aren't that tough. That being said, they could conceivably lose 4 of those games which means the Rockets would have to go 10-4 the rest of the way to tie them and get the 6th seed. The only way that's possible though is to sweep their remaining 8 home games(which include matchups with the Spurs, Clippers, Pacers, and Grizzlies) and win at Phoenix and Sactown. Possible, but unlikely.

At this point though, the most important thing for me is that the Rockets simply make the playoffs. And if possible, avoid being the 8th seed. That way we don't have to play San Antonio, and the Lakers do.

I have GSW going 7-5 in their remaining games and us going 8-6.

Meaning GSW will be 46-36 and Houston will be 45-37.

But as long as we're facing the Grizz* in the playoffs I'll be happy.

*Even though, as I've said before, Z-Bo will feast on D-Mo and T-Rob.

If the Rockets played ball like they're capable of during that 7 game losing streak, we would be positioning for 3rd through 5th. This team will do major damage as long as the pressure doesn't get to our youngns.

IMO, Denver's schedule is the most favorable, but OKC may stay at second. However, MEM or Clippers is hard to catch up!
That means, Houston may play with Denver if they are the sixth seed. Or play with OKC, if they get the seventh.
I had a conversation with Jason Friedman, and we both agreed that Memphis would be the only matchup among top-5 that we like for HOU!

We go 1-3 here based on my projection but the more important thing here is to see how our team has progressed and improved during the course of the season and there's no better test than against these playoff teams.

Again, the team's main goal this season is to make the playoffs (which is a huge bonus for a rebuilding team on its 1st year together) and gain that priceless playoff exposure that no other young, rebuilding team has the luxury of experiencing.

A little silly of an argument to make, because every 3-8 team has bad stretches of multiple losses in a row, so arguing that only the Houston Rockets would improve if these stretches were erased is misleading...
