Parsons can be modified and extended after next season. What cyberx is saying is they are going to do that for him. Which is very viable. They either have to figure out his contract next year or let him play out that 4th year and hit the market a free agent. They don't want that. Parson's contract has to be updated after next season.
a) after next season is not 'about to get paid' b) if he did extend is contract after next season he would make only 1 million which is peanuts. c) Parsons would never extend his contract after next season due to the small amount he would be getting. Again an executive would know these things and therefore know Parsons will not be getting paid anytime soon. read above. Yes I am leeching off Bima, but who doesn't?
He won't be a free agent until 2015-2016....... by 'about to get paid' you meant not after this season or next season, but the season after that he will get paid? maybe you misheard the executive or something.
Maybe the executive was saying 'about to get paid in a couple years'... No big deal, and it's not academic paper.
Oh, its you again. Please leave this thread alone, thank you very much. CyberX, please put thekad on your ignore list. Please also continue providing us the juicy stuff from around the league
Pardon me for the misstatement. They can make him a RFA after next season, let the market determine his price, then match the offer. This is the most likely scenario. They know they've got a bargain with Chandler. They want to keep him. They don't want to play him down 4 years and then he's facing unrestricted free agency. They want to control his contract. They're going to have to take the risk of some team offering him too much money. But they can mitigate that somewhat by matching and trading him somewhere else. I think it will all work out. I think they want Parons for the bulk of his good years. He's a young Shane Battier in every way. Extremely high character guy, great skills, great drive and work ethic. Parsons represents this franchise very, very well and they want him throughout his primary years. The other possibility here is they actually modify his contract to extend the team option window from June 30th to later in the off season. If they have room left after the big free agents are off the market, they can negotiate a fresh deal with Chandler using their remaining cap room, opt out of his contract, make him an unrestricted FA, and immediately sign him to a new deal. This is a similar concept to what the Cavs attempted to do with Boozer years ago where Boozer agreed to re-sign if they opted out of his current deal. The Cavs opted out and then he took off and went to Utah for a few more $$$$s without signing the contract he had verbally agreed to with the Cavs. So it really would have to be a good faith thing with Chandler signing the new deal immediately after termination of his old deal. And that being if there were cap space this season. A little risky. (However I trust Chandler's character far more than I ever trusted Boozer.) I am of the opinion that if we strike out on Dwight and Paul that the best use of our cap space may indeed be to redo Chandler's contract this season, give him money now, also throw in the decreasing scale so that his salary on the books actually goes down 7.5% every year, and get him signed for a full 4 years. We could probably do that while also adding either Millsap or Smith. However, I think it is much more likely that we make him a RFA with a qualifying offer next season and simply match whatever the market offers him...unless he gets an obscene offer from someone.
You know, I doubt cyberx was sitting there next to this exec with a tape recorder: "I want to make sure I get this verbatim so that trolls like tallanvor can't naysay me." "Sure, fine, just don't use my name." Now, is it not possible, not even a little, that cyberx, in his enthusiasm, wrote in his post "about to get paid" when the guy could very well have said "Parsons is gonna get paid"? Or maybe the exec---if he's even an "executive", he could be a scout for the Rockets, whatever, and not be in on the salary cap bit anyway---did say, "About to get paid", in an enthusiastic way with an obvious geeked-out Rockets fan/friend of his, not necessarily knowing Parsons will have to wait another year before the big paycheck comes along?
Parsons HIMSELF has complained to me IN PERSON that he is the LOWEST paid starter in the league and that he would like for something to be worked out this summer.
That's fine but there is nothing to be worked out unless he wants to be waived. At least that's my understanding of it.
I thought this was somewhat interesting. http://hoopshype.com/agents/mark_bartelstein.htm It lists the clients of Mr. Bartelstein, but it has Chandler Parsons' contract expiring this year, instead of 2015.

Depends... I just stay close with many of the people in the league. I have a mutual connection in the whole MIT world, so a lot comes from there as well.
I heard some CF belong to a Secret Society. The rumor is that Honey bear runs it with own forum. I've definitely not gotten an invite . There probably special stipulations to be invited e.g (womanizer, 1%er).
