I got my 1st ticket there.. "F the police" - Ice Cube

I was doing 50 at a 35 though. But if it was at fondren, the cop would pull up beside me and say slow down. I miss fondren.

You really should NEVER just pay a ticket. This affects your driving record. In the state of Texas we have something called Driver Responsibility Program. AKA surcharge.

    More info here: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/DriverLicense/drp.htm

Convictions will cost you more than just the fine. Surcharge plus higher insurance premiums. Depending on your line of work, it could also cost you your job.

I hold a commercial drivers license. Per state law, I am not eligible for defensive driving or deferred adjudication. So my only option is to fight it. I can tell you from experience, a jury does not always side with the cop.

It is sad how many people would rather give money to an attorney rather than to your local government for rightfully fining a guy.

Defensive driving for one ticket. Ask for deferred disposition for the 2nd. Should take care of things for you.

You were speeding and your excuse makes no sense. The 30mph speed limit begins where the sign is located, you didn't know that? You are supposed to be traveling 30mph by the time you reach the sign, not at some point of your preference after passing the sign. This is all very basic stuff you learn in drivers education. Pay the ticket and move on, you are guilty.

See that doesnt make sense though, because before I cross that 30mph marker, im still in a 40mph zone, so I am allowed to go that speed. My argument is that if the cop is sitting 10 yards away from the 30 mph marker tracking people, then of course im going to be over the speed limit, im in the process of slowing down at the point I hit the 30 mph hour marker. Where the cop was positioned anyone who was not at 30 mph right when they hit that sign, was getting a ticket, there was no leeway.

I understand that, i have gotten 3 tickets in over 8 years of driving and 2 were this year, so once in my whole life, I think that is a good ratio.

I thought the bigger issue for him is if he gets caught again, his license might be suspended

It's a speed LIMIT. You don't have to go 40 in a 40. Yes, you have to maintain a safe speed, too. But if you can clearly see that the sign for reduced speed is ahead, you should have be slowing down before you get to the lower one.
