It is safe to assume that Robinson is unlikely to become dramatically better in less than 20 games.

So, lets say that the Rockets dangles him for a 2013 draft pick near draft night, what do you think is highest pick that the Rockets can land for him.

Probably somewhere in the middle of the first round, maybe around the 14-16th range? As Morey said, given the new CBA, draft picks are now more valuable than ever. Last year we did manage to trade Budinger for the 18th pick though. The key thing is to compare Robinson as a prospect, given his 1 year in the NBA, against other prospects available on the board in the late lottery and mid first round range.

Somewhere in the second round I think. He doesn't really make that much for us to have to offer a pick to unload him.

    This year, = Patterson = a #14 pick

Next year, = Marcus Morris = a 2nd round pick

No way. A used car's value is depreciating day by day.

Budinger at the time when he's traded actually showed more in the nba than Robinson so far.

Carl what was Pats value? Especially if Morey wanted Dmo to start and they demoted Pat in favor of a rookie?

Could they get what they got a lotto pick?

Morey can flip Robinson maybe for another semi bust next year, maybe he can flip him as part of a Smith, Howard, Millsap or Paul trade. He has more value than Pat has and likely will ever have.

You trade for an unknown and give up a known that has peaked out. Pat has peaked valuewise where he was if the Rockets wanted to give a shot to Dmo as a starter.

Get over it, you plan for CHAMPIONSHIPS and building a team for CHAMPIONSHIPS, not for getting to the playoffs, not for winning 1 playoff round.

If you can get a piece that can lead to a 2nd star which we BADLY NEED (which Pat never was/will be), which Robinson has the potential to be (however tiny that % might be) gives him value in another trade worst case.

These threads are absolutely idiotic and they are getting old. Dude get over it, I assumed you were just trolling, but even the trolling is getting old.

TL;DR - Build a team for CHAMPIONSHIPS, not to make the playoffs 1 year. Stop being stupid Carl.

Not only this but Patterson simply wasn't in the future plans for this team so it really doesn't matter if he got rid of Patterson it just matters if he got something back for Patterson.

Potential and a unknown has way more value than a known role player. That's how you trade Jeremy Lamb for James Harden.

Pat would not have been benched for Motiejunas had he not been traded. Motiejunas would get a shot at the minutes of the departed Morris. He is not good enough to beat out Pat.

Pat's trade value would likely be similar to Budinger's, if not a bit higher. Like Budinger, he is a medium usage rate, high efficiency offensive player. He is also a more solid defender than Budinger. Also, while Budinger's contract is cheaper, Pat will become a restricted FA after his final season under contract while Budinger will be unrestricted after his.

I think you should bet something whether Robinson makes the rookie/sophomore game next season.

    Hmmm??

    More than Patterson. :)

Looking at some of the names in the draft, I'm thinking #9 is about as high as the Rockets might get in return. Obviously it'll take a team that really likes or at least liked Robinson and has a need for him, so you may not be able to get #9, but say #11 or #12.

We can trade anything to Sac and get anything from Sac.

So why not just trade Robinson back for their pick of 2013? lol

I don't think he'll have that much value. Especially considering that we got him for PPAT and he hasn't shown that much promise here either in my opinion.
