We won't know for sure for another year or so.

It's a low chance but hardly anyone comes into the league as a guaranteed all-star...usually one player does and that guy is usually taken with the first pick...

It's just that we know what Patterson is at this point, and he wasn't in the long term plans of this team obviously.

What's the reasoning for believing that Robinson has more potential of becoming an all-star vs Patterson? Draft order?

    Watching PPat play...

I am not saying the TRob will be an All-Star, but I can tell you now that PPat will not be one.

Have you seen me play? Based on that logic, I might just be an all-star.

Even if you take the rookie minutes of PPat vs the rookie minutes of TRob then PPat > TRob. But for some reason people love to hate PPat but love the player they haven't seen much of but was drafted higher and therefore must be a better player even though all signs say no.

    Total TRob: PPat
    Min 15.4 16.7
    FG% .434 .558
    FT% .547 .714
    RPG 4.9 3.8
    APG 0.7 0.8
    BPG 0.4 0.7
    SPG 0.6 0.3
    TO 1.3 0.6
    PTS 4.7 6.3

Sounds like Carl Herrera wrote the description to these PPat highlights from last night:

Patpat with the team worse -17 +/- leading his team to a loss once again with empty boxscore stats and non-existent rebounding. No wonder his teams always does worse with him on the floor, just like when he was here in Houston.

If we still had him on this team, at the very best, we lose by 25 instead of 30. Most likely we lose by 40 instead, without Dmo's team leading +7.

Of course the Rockets could miss the playoffs. Asik could get injured tommorow. Harden could get injured.

However, the Rockets won't ever miss the playoffs because we swapped out Patrick freakin' Patterson. Ha. Ha. Ha.

D-Mo's +/- was misleading. He played like pure **** for the first half. Lin/Harden/Delfino went on a 24-3 run with D-Mo in where he only contributed 4 pts. He came out before Klay Thompson went off on us. He was a liability on both ends.

The man loved this team, now he's playing out of his mind. Gotta miss that mid-range jumper.

Pat's 3pt shooting, rebounding, post up and midrange game was all better than both Motie and T.Ro.

Morey sacraficed wins hoping T.Ro pans out to be a better player in the years to come.
i don't like it because T.Ro looks so far from a consistent contributor, but time will tell.
As far as this season, i just hope the move still lands us in the playoffs.

You can now see why T.Ro wasn't getting major mins even in Sac.

Patterson is a better scorer and shooter right now. Probably would have been easier to make the playoffs now but we just would have been stuck as just a first round playoff team. That is still most likely the case now but with Robinson we have a better tradeable asset as well as a player that will most likely be better than Patterson in the near future.

You really won't stop with this will you?

Let me give you an analogy...a team trades an average player for a player with major upside. When the player with major upside joins his new squad he doesn't contribute much. Therefore based upon his minimal contributions in the first 10 games fans decide to hate the trade.

    (Carl Herrera's thought process) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Any intelligent individual would conclude that a fan that thinks so short term and has no regard for the future is a complete and utter moron.

Make the connection if you so choose.

LOL @ people comparing Robinson and Patterson, as if a rookie who's already dealt with a trade should be on a 3 year vet's level...

The only reasoning for this trade that appears accurate is that the Rockets did not want to pay Patterson when he's a free agent, but my question is - why???? The dude was a great fit next to Harden and Lin. As close to automatic with the open shot as a PF will EVER get and he played good defense. Are role players like that not valuable? Why not pay him what he's worth?? Will this obsession with low balling every asset possible really get us to a championship?? They should have paid the dude.

Lost in all of this is Beverley's performance the past 6 games.

    1 PPG. 10% FG.

Scoreless in five of the last six games.

"major upside" wont get you much in this league, son.... we've acquired and drafted a few players with "upside" and "potential", usually those are just a fancy or nice way of saying someone's RAW and athletic.... sure you gonna say time will tell, but at this point, we're definitely taking a step back by getting robinson instead of staying with patterson, thus more likely we'll be 1 and done in the playoff, if we make it first.
