A drunk 16 year old girl deserves an underage drinking ticket. That's all. Anyone who raped deserve criminal charges and to go jail.
She deserves blame and shoulders the responsibility for destroying her body, whatever hell she feels the next day being hungover, and any stupid decisions she makes while being drunk (driving, doing stupid things, etc). She doesn't deserve blame or shoulder any responsibility for being assaulted while unconscious. Really, how hard is this?
Park your running car in the projects then tell me how long it sits there before its stolen. To say that just because you parked your running car there doesn't mean someone should steal it makes you blind. Are you to blame for parking your car there? Are you to blame for having it stolen? What fairy tale world are you living in?
I skipped through most of this ridiculous thread, but I have been following this case (I think there was another thread about it?) and my understanding is that the girl was drugged. So the drinking argument is totally moot (and stupid). Apparently, these 2 guys were called "the rape crew" or something like that, and they did this kind of thing all the time. It was kind of accepted by everyone in the town because the football team is really good ( ) and I think I even read somewhere that there was a bar owner who actually supplied the players with the drugs used to knock the girls out. There is much more to this story than some girl having too much to drink. These football players were allowed to do anything they wanted in that town and if you had a problem with any of it, you were pretty much shunned by the entire community. So what if your daughter was gang-raped. As long as the football team is winning, it's all good.

Let me rephrase. Nobody is saying it is her fault. But her choices certainly didn't help matters. If you misinterpret that, oh well. If you don't agree with that, then feel free to leave your valuables on your lawn in this fairy tale world you live in.

OK... and? Her choice to not stay home that night and read RL Stine also didn't help matters. Her choice to speak to people at school and not be an antisocial mute also didn't help matters. Her choice to not get a sex change also didn't help matters. What's the point you're trying to make? Getting drunk does not necessarily lead to getting gang-raped, and as Major pointed out it's not even reasonable to think getting drunk in a public setting will lead to gang rape. For actual crimes (read: violent crimes), I'm a two teeth for a tooth kind of guy. So if it comes out that they actually did what they're accused of, throw the book at 'em.
I don't understand how this is even a similar case....and don't really want to delve into this cause I do not know the situation inside gay clubs.
You won't get an argument from me. I think rape should be on the same level as murder. They're getting off easy. I think all crimes need to have stiffer penalties.

My original comment wasn't that she is to blame or deserved to be raped, I'm saying she is at fault for being drunk to the point where she didn't realize what was going on where she was at which is never a good thing. No I don't thin anyone deserves to be raped but just don't think its ever a good idea to be wasted drunk to the point of losing your memory
MAN, WTF. She's not to blame for that, man. MANY people pass out. MANY people find good Samaritans who say "GIRL... you're passed out. Just sober up and we will take you home." These were just douchebags who took advantage of her being drunk. For all those STILL saying she shouldn't have drank, how about this: Those of us defending our stance of "she isn't to blame" are going to stalk your butts every night, wait until your butts get drunk or pass out, and get a couple more buddies and if you haven't passed out, will put something in your drink, wait until you pass out, then gang rape you... and then I'll say: "You dumb ass, why did you drink? It's your fault." How about that, sirs?!?!?

Most 16 year olds don't drink until they black out, as it appeared she did. A lot more than you would expect.
I don't think rape is that common of an occurence in juvenille detention centers, but I'm also not overly familiar with them.
