What's more impressive on the resume

A player with a 33 game win streak and no championship

or a guy that won a Championship but never came close to being on a team that won 33 in a row?

maybe jvg was trolling his partner since usually it's the other way around.

If it doesn't end in a championship, people won't care much. In 10 years, it'd be just a nice trivia bit.
In the end, all the good teams aim and plan for a championship and go all out during the playoffs. Not all of them would go over their heads for an individual regular season game, even if it's a part of a streak.

He clarified he'd rather have a championship but that a streak is harder to do and therefore more memorable, especially for LeBron who already has one.

    OP misleads everyone here.

Championship. Just because the intensity of the playoffs and beating playoff teams in a 7 game series versus having plenty of sub .500 teams in a 33 game winning streak sounds more challenging imo.

33 win streak is more impressive because it is far more difficult to do. It is far more memorable.

A guy who does a 720 dunk in the slam dunk contest but fails to win would be a feat better remembered than the winner of the contest with nifty but non-memorable dunks.

Now if it comes down to what would someone prefer? Most likely a championship. What is more impressive? A 33 game win streak by far.

You have champions every year, you don't get legendary feats every year.

The reason they remember that is because they went 16-0. No one remembers the Steelers losing the Super Bowl a few years ago, for example.

They'll have a championship and a nice streak(whatever it ends up being).

Instead of championships vs win streaks, it'll just be championship win streaks.

16-0 stands out much more than some winning streak in an 82 game regular season. 16-0 is more like the Bulls' 72-10.

If you win 33 games in a row, wouldn't you be more likely to win the championship? Heck, even have a dynasty?

A streak is only memorable if you win a ring. They dont give out hardware for winning streaks.

The only thing people will remember is whether or not you win a ring and if you don't, youll always be looked at as failures

This is probably the DUMBEST comment JVG has made since commentating games

JVG said getting to the finals would be a breeze for Miami to do out in the East, and said breaking the 33 game streak would be harder for Miami than reaching the finals and potentially winning a championship.

That's only b/c you have been conditioned to think that way. Championship usually comes down to having the best player and teams can often coast during the year knowing they have it locked up regardless.

Not to mention, it depends on which player you're talking about. If it's the best player on the team, then whether or not they won the ring will be important. If it's someone like, say, Kenny Smith, then it doesn't matter either way. If we're talking about a coach, then the winning streak is probably a better indicator of aptitude.

Not true at all. More people would know who had the longest winning streak of all-time than who won the championship in any given year. I know the Lakers won 33 in a row. Did they win the championship? I thought so, but I did have to double check to make sure.

Why not? Which is more difficult? Winning a championship or winning 33 in a row? Anyone with an objective mind would say the streak. Why do you think the championship is the only thing that matter? Why do you even watch any game other than the Finals?

Ask nba players and I can guarantee you most of them would pick a championship.
