I'm 18 and Ridley Scott is vastly overrated. Wasted 12 bucks on Promethus last year. Blade Runner was meh.
You should watch the sequel: Aliens. IMO, still the best sci fi film ever made. Why not give it a shot?
I am much older than 18 and I think Ridley Scott sux noodles. /high five Aliens is okay. not great. Also 'Aliens' was not directed by Ridley Scott. It was directed by James Cameron.
Life of Pi - 9/10 I never read the book, but this was a truly awesome movie. Powerful, and the visuals are a work of art. Definitely worth a watch if you have the time.
As promised I finally got around to seeing Dredd. Very solid flick. Somehow I knew it was McCoy even though you only see his mouth the entire movie. He has the same sneer. Anyways it instantly reminded me of Raid Redemption except set in a typical dystopian sci-fi future which is a good thing. 7/10. I'd definitely watch a sequel if they made one.
Reservoir Dogs - 7/10 Good movie, that's why I bought it. 300 - 9/10 One of my favorite movies of all time, great all around.
Insidious - 7/10 Saw it in theaters but watched it last night on Netflix. Really good for the first hour or so, but the ending was just stupid, which brought the score down. Still would recommend though and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Alex Cross While this movie demonstrated how poor an actor Tyler Perry really is . . . Mathew Fox was great. He was outside of his norm Good Guy thing and was actually pretty sadistic and creepy. 6/10 Rocket River was not as bad as I thought.
Side Effects. I give my hour and 10 minute nap a 8 outa 10. What a ****ing boring ass movie. Just a waste of money and time. Wait for video if you wanna see it imo. Sinister - I really liked this movie until the end. 8/10, the end 3/10. Could have done so much better without being so obvious on how it would end.
Saw Life of Pi about 3 days ago. I loved the story told and the different perspective of the story blew me away. 9.5/10.
To be fair...it is very debatable which of Aliens, Matrix, or 2001 is the best. All are fantastic. You also gotta throw in Empire Strikes Back, Blade Runner, Terminator 2, and E.T...All of those are All-Time greats. Personally though...The Matrix is my favorite.
J Sizzle pretty much said it. I loved the Matrix, but Aliens just has a special place in my heart. All a matter of personal preference. Now, if someone would just make a well-funded Warhammer 40K movie, it might just be my new favorite ========================================================= The Raid: Redemption 8/10 Awesome martial arts movie. Complete with blood, gore and everything. Didn't care much for the storyline though but absolutely loved the fight scenes.
Whores' Glory- 7.5/10 Great documentary, gives a very raw look at various prostitutes' daily routines....pretty sad stuff
Olympus Has Fallen 5.5/10 It had some interesting action and I liked the basics of the story... a little Red Dawn meets Air Force One but seriously this movie is about 20 years too late. Some of it was corny as hell. At one point a character starts saying the pledge of allegiance. Spare me. Also, a Scottish guy playing a secret service agent... ugh.
