Why do the members of clutchfans overvalue the players of this team?

WHY DO SOME CLATCHFANS MEMBERS UNDERVALUE THE PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM?

- We overvalued Carl Landry and yet he netted Kevin Martin who was flipped for James Harden in a trade.

- We overvalued Aaron Brooks and yet he was traded for Goran Dragic and a 1st round draft pick that ended up being traded for DMo.

- We overvalued Chase Budinger and yet he was traded for the 16th pick in the draft.

- We overvalued Kyle Lowry and yet he was traded for a guaranteed lottery pick that was moved in the James Harden trade.

- We Jordan Hill and yet he was traded for a 1st round draft pick.

Why don't you tell us why clutchfans overvalues the Rockets players?

It looks to me like we haven't overvalued anyone. It looks more like you are undervaluing the teams players to me.

 

I have been a big proponent of getting Love. He literally fits our system perfectly

HOWEVER

He has been hurt a lot lately and it isn't really Parsons for Love... It is:

Parsons and Smith or Love

Parsons and Howard or Love

Parsons and Bynum or Love

If you trade for Love you are really dealing your capspace and Parsons.

I can see why some people wouldn't do it.

 

Endowment effect. It's a cognitive bias common to all humans, not just clutch fans.

 

You could always deal Parsons, Asik and White for Love and Williams and then sign Pekovic as a free agent.

The Wolves get a very good young player, a center to replace Pekovic who is a free agent and some cap relief.

The Rockets get a second star, a center that fits their offensive and defensive system and a former high lottery pick.

I don't really understand your point. All of the players you cite were traded for far, far less than Kevin Love.

I don't think I;d want to give up Asik. Minny has Pekovic already; why would they need him?

I would hate to give up Parsons. REALLY hate. I think the deal would have to involve him and our young rookie talent, like T-Rob, Motiejunas, Jones, Smith or White.

 

There were pointless threads abound about how overrated all those players were but now we know none of them were overrated. Just like the many pointless threads (like this one) that talk about clutchfans overrating the teams players. Some of those players were key to us acquiring James Harden so yes, they were traded for a talent greater than Kevin Love.

 

Your first thought was right on. Then you bought into the myth of Kevin Love and qualified your statement. Stats don't lie. Love isn't that good. Period.

Chris Bosh... you can say he's a PF, but he plays center.

The same reason why parents overvalue their own kids over other people's kids. duh.

The same reason you overvalue you your significant other. Emotional investment!

 

I'm still upset we traded cassell and horry for barkley.

 

The real question is if we trade Asik and Parsons for your beloved Love, where the hell does our defense come from? Think about these things. Love is not worth a legit defensive center, defensive up-and-coming SF.

 

How many of these guys have Asik outplayed this season head to head ?

 

Home fans always over value their own players and underrate players of other teams. Happens everywhere, all the time

It's a good sign that he hasn't had major leg injuries, but the fact that he has lost an entire season to an injury (and re-injury; it's not just one injury, but I guess it doesn't count as two) isn't something you just laugh away. The injury is not serious enough that Minnesota will let him go for cheap, so let him prove that he can recover from injury and put up numbers like he did before while eating up their cap space, not your own.

I do like Love for our team, just not now. It can wait a few years.
