Simple question. Lately I have read that many of you would not trade Parsons for K.Love. When I read this I used to think some of you were just joking or being silly but lately I get the sense many of you actually have this type of attitude. It makes absolutely no sense to me. I understand having a somewhat optimistic view of our players but some of you guys take it way too far. So I will post a poll regarding this to see how many of you actually think a player like Parsons or Asik are greater than kevin love.

parsons, like lin and smith and asik, is here to do all the dirty work that superstars dont do.
we have so many options for power forward, why an injury prone player?

Why is overvaluing Kevin Love fundamentally superior to overvaluing Parsons or Asik?

Love is great, but if you want to be serious about NBA rosters you have to talk about cost-effectiveness, not just pure ability. In terms of cost-effectiveness Love isn't anywhere near Parsons and Asik.

    Because they're Rockets fans?

I think people not wanting to trade Parsons, Lin, Asik, etc for Love is not because they think Love is a worse player than those guys, but because a lot of people have fallen in love with our core and want to see them grow together and continue to generate chemistry. It's not an objective, ruthless attitude, but it's not supposed to be... we're fans, we grow to like our players and want them to succeed as Rockets.

I think some of it is also a "Why not both?" type attitude... people would rather pick somebody up in free agency and add to what we already have as opposed to breaking up the core.

    If it's a question between:

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Josh Smith
    Asik

    and

    Lin
    Harden
    Delfino
    Love
    ???

Then it's much more understandable, is it not?

I would definitely flip Parsons for Love. Probably not Asik just because our defense would suffer too much.

Also...if you could get Love and Asik together in the same frontcourt...You'd instantly have the best rebounding frontcourt in the league. Not to mention Love's offense and Asik's defense would compliment well.

In regards to winning a championship I am of the opinion that you need to have 2 superstars. The hardest thing in the NBA is to attain superstar level talent. If you have an opportunity to attain a PF at the skill level of Love, you trade away a player like parsons.......all day..........everyday.

And yes I know Dirk and Olajuwon somehow won it on their own but in general the principle holds true.

2 superstars gives you a legitimate chance to win it all.

I prefer pfs and centers that can play some defense.

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    ???
    Asik

    vs

    Lin
    Harden
    Delfino
    Love
??????(smith is most likely gone too)

yeah, sure, the team looks better with love.

Sad you reduced it to Kevin Love, this thread had more potential as this has always been an issue. Most members here only watch our team and the top games and therefore barely know anything about the league or player evaluation. You sadly reduced it to Love, Parsons,... and this thread will be a waste.

Asik is way easier to replace

Love had stats similar to Moses Malone

Asik was and forever will be less then Joakim Noah

love is a big with the shooting percentages of a guard and doesn't defend well. yes he boards, but is a big of his profile conducive to winning basketball?

of course he's better than everyone on the roster except harden, but maybe he's not the right fit. it's not about overvaluing what we have, it could be that we're undervaluing love and not seeing what you see.

It's not that Clutchfans is over valuing its own players in this particular case, it's that you are over valuing Kevin Love. It's very hard to win a championship if you have a negative defender at powerforward playing 40+ minutes a game.

Sure Love is a top five PF .... but where do Asik and Parsons fall in at their respective positions??

Asik despite his limitations offensively is probably a top five center. DH12 , Brook Lopez , Marc Gasol , Joakim Noah .... anyone else ? Maybe Pecovick?

Parsons ... how many SF's are clearly better ?! Its my opinion that only Lebron , Durant are clearly better at the SF position than Parsons. Some might argue for Iguodala , Batum and Rudy Gay here as well but I dont think they are clearly better.

Add in the fact that we have DMo who has a very high ceiling playing well in extended minutes .... Shooting 52% for the season and better than 60% since the trade ....

You would probably have to give up two of Asik , Parsons and DMo for Love along with picks .... That price is a bit steep to me.

I would not have gone so far as to say that only lebron and durant are the only two who are clearly better than parson but i like that parson only makes less than a mill each year.

i'd prefer asik and parsons for some cheap love, who is just david lee that can spot up from 3.
beverely + garcia+brooks and future pick +jones and white straight up for love and we might have a deal.

Simple fact: Morey refused to include Parsons in a package for James Harden. So unless Morey "overvalues" Houston's players, too, you should probably lose the uppity tone.
