Yet instead of starting a thread that props your best player, or even your second best player in Randolph, you've now started threads on Conley and Gay, both of whom are much less important to the team than Gasol/Randolph.

It just makes you look more obvious as a troll. I guess the responses do get kind of funny so it's okay, but please don't act like you're serious when you're just trolling.

While what is dead wrong about Rudy "more shots than points" Gay, he's not wrong about Conley. Conley is a two-ways players and is really underrated. Personally, I'll take him over regular season Rondo. I don't like a PG who can't shoot and scares about being fouled because he sucks at the free throw line. Playoff Rondo is a beast though.

Even if he is "really underrated", and even if you would take him over "regular season Rondo"...

It is a fact that he is not elite. He is not Chris Paul/Russell Westbrook/Tony Parker level.

Hell...there's more than just those 3 anybody would take over Conley.

Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving, Derrick Rose, Deron Williams, Steph Curry, and then arguably Rajon Rondo.

Conley is waiting to have a breakout, but this isn't it. He's a good player there is a reason the Grizz haven't given up on him like they have on so many others. Dude was a lotto pick and presumed a bust but he ha skillz.

Conley's numbers are surprisingly similar to Lin's now that I look at it. I see more offensive potential in Lin even though Conley is the better defender.

I will say this, Conley is at least a better player than Rudy Gay.

Only fitting that the day after this troll thread gets posted, Conley has a MONSTER game against Denver.

    11 points on 4/13 shooting (1/4 3pt)
    3 assists
    6 rebounds
    2 steals
    7 turnovers

Man does this badass PG really know how to fill a stat sheet!!!

Sigh...do you really have to go so low as to misrepresent the facts? Sam Cassell brought John Wall to watch CHRIS PAUL. Coincidentally, Mike Conley was playing opposite Mr. Paul. Conley, as I'm sure you can recall, found out first-hand what an elite PG like Paul can do in the playoffs, i.e., beat the Grizzlies in his first year in LA.

    Here's a quote:

"Cassell, now a Washington Wizards assistant coach, brought young Wizards point guard John Wall with him to Game 3 specifically to watch Paul on the playoff stage. Wall left impressed."

    Here's the link:
    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--chris-paul-leading-clippers--comeback-story--.html

I know you're supposed to spin facts in these joke threads, but this assertion that Cassell brought Wall to watch Conley (LOL!) needed to be set straight.

Grizzlies are an amazing team to watch and discuss if you appreciate big man's game and D at all. But all this drama makes it very frustrating to do here and way less fun.

I think you ought to google Sam Cassell, Mike Conley and you will see that you have an early report that was corrected. smdh

I'm not saying he's at that level, but he belongs in the Irving (terrible D) and Curry level (average driving ability). Advance stats, such as 2yAPM, RAPM, IPV, etc. paints Conley as a very, very good player.

Conley's never going to be the guy that creates wins off his dribble, so no, he's not on Irving's level, bad defense and all (pg is about the easiest place to compensate for bad defense, see Steve Nash). But as far as a catch and shoot, game manager/defender, he's about as good a pg super role player as you'll get.

The Grizzlies probably need more of a creator, with Allen as sg and all, whilst for example, us, could probably use Conley more than Lin (although currently Conley is obviously more consistent with several years experience).

He defends well, is great at steals, doesn't turn it over that much (although lol against Denver), good 3 point shooter, exists ideally on a moderate volume of shots.

I love how some that diss our own rockets point guard suggest that conley is due for a break out year. Especially when Conley has been playing 5 complete nba seasons and is posting similar numers to our own, who is barely playing his first full season. Talk about being patient with mike. =/

Conley's also the better shooter. For whatever reason, I just don't trust Lin's jump shot in crunch time. I've seen Conley come up clutch these last couple of seasons with his J.

Corrected? There are direct quotes from cassell about Chris Paul's game that wall ought to emulate. Where's the corrected article? All I saw was "a league source says that Cassell actually wanted Wall to see Conley." However, no quote and no confirmation. Pretty iffy.

But let's assume that Cassell wanted him to watch Conley. The same article that you were referring to specifically mentions that Cassell might have done so because Conley, like Wall, is a speedy PG. Nothing about that so-called correction supports your claim that Conley is as good as Paul or that people around the league seem to espouse that opinion. If anything, it's that Conley is better than Wall. No argument there.
