I think the consensus is that we've got no chance in hell against OKC/SA and not much of a chance against the Clippers either, but Memphis seems doable. Have to games against them coming up, but the Rockets absolutely trounced them in december. Seems like the best first round matchup for the Rockets.

The Grizzlies already leapfrogged LAC for third in the west, and with GSW getting destroyed by the Bulls the next game (GSW@Hou) will determine 6th seed. Obviously there's still lots of season left for the Rockets to slide back, but it looks like there's a very realistic possibility of a first round seeding against the Grizz.

Would do literal cartwheels if Harden brought us out of the first round in one season. Thoughts, CF?

We've got a chance against Memphis, but their bigs will feast on our frontcourt pillows, especially with Ppat no longer a Rocket. Asik has a difficult time dealing with centers that can shoot.

Then again, we've beaten Memphis before and they seem to have an equally difficult time dealing with our backcourt. It would be an interesting clash of styles. I still prefer an OKC matchup, Harden's going to go into superstar mode.

Memphis in the first round would be an incredible scenario of actually winning a series. They showed a lot of holes I've been pointing out tonight. Matchup wise they are good for us.

I just think it's funny how after losses people break down saying how pathetic the team is and then after a win we're primed for a first round upset.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if we upset a team, but it is very unlikely. We'd have to keep up our high powered offense for multiple games and be very hot from 3.

    Semis: OKC Rockets win 4-3
Conf finals: Spurs Rockets win 4-3

Memphis is a bad matchup for every team in the West except Denver and Rox because of their offensive prowess and tempo.

yep, at least against Memphis we have a shot, not a good shot still...just keep winning and get the 6 seed. I thought warriors were gonna take a full advantage their home stand and keep 6th seed, but they're just bad right now.

We have the best chance against the Grizzlies in my opinion.

We are one of the better half court defensive team when Asik is on the court, but we are always terrible in transition.

Grizzlies play slow and half court, they are probably the only team that we could beat (we have blown them out once already).

Although their 2 and 3 are pretty poor offensively, Prince and Allen together might give Harden trouble with their defense.

Asik might be able to slow down Gasol, so Randolph would probably be doing the most damage against us.

I'd take my chances against the Grizzlies over any other team.

fatty mcfat fat randolph will eat our pfs and delfino for lunch doe. i think our best player to match up with him would be greg smith, whose recent play has been encouraging

memphis is match up that im hoping for though. we'll see.... lots of games left.

Memphis scares me. Conley & Allen are terrific defensively & considering our back court is the engine that runs our offense I think it will be tougher than fans think. But Memphis is our best match up. The Spurs may actually be an underrated matchup for us, I feel like there old legs couldn't keep up with our pace. But Spurs would likely still beat us. LAC we may have a shot at, Clippers are a beatable team but I don't know. It is tough. If the Rockets can win one playoff game that is an accomplishment.

I'm looking forward to going to my first playoff game ever (can't believe I didn't go from 07-09) but it would suck if we got OKC or SA. Sweeps are not fun to watch.

Denver has a real good chance at the 3 seed too. Unbeatable at home, they will throw iggy at harden, but we like playing their style of play and when you have the best player on the court it always helps. Their "go to scorer" dillema may come into play.

Would you rather face MEM or DEN?

    Dream scenario:

1st round: we edge out Memphis 4-3. Lakers edge out OKC, with Dwight temporarily breaks his back, shoulder, ankle and ovary in the last second tip-in to win game 7.

2nd round: Kobe commits a crime in Colorado airspace on his flight to Houston, gets arrested and experiences police brutality. Artest gets involved in two brawls with LA fans in one game, gets suspended for five seasons. Pau starts writing poems and stays sentimental. Nash's anti-aging pills expire. We win 4-0.

Western Finals: Spurs rests everyone, including the trainer and doorman for game 1 to spite David Stern. Stern suspends Pop until he retires, and everyone else involved for 5 games. We edge out Spurs 4-3.

Final: Heat does another Harlem Shake in Houston, and everyone gets arrested for public indecency. Judge denies bail, and we edge out 4-3.

    Championship!

I think Denver gets the 3 seed. They're on a real roll.

Heat start their Harlem shake and right before the 15 second mark the entire timberwolves team comes out and attacks them. Everyone's injured, can't play. We win 4-0
